NEWSLETTER 289
NOVEMBER 2021
Dear friends,
Welcome to our November newsletter,
As Covid drags on I guess we are all getting somewhat weary of it , all the
statistics, the false news, the restrictions , the impact on relationships and
lives , enough already. Hopefully your SAARP membership has helped keep you
sane during these months as the committee have done their very best to
facilitate safe activities and get-togethers to relieve some of the stress and
boredom . I certainly salute them from afar for going beyond the call of duty
during this time. Well Done !!
The only contribution I can make is this newsletter which I hope you enjoy , and
please feel free to contribute to it , send me your jokes, your stories, your
recipes, your photos all those things you are happy to share with others, forget
Face Book and remember the SAARP NEWSLETTER.
This month I am adding a Cryptic Quiz on page 6 to
get your brains busy , have fun with it and let me know if
you enjoy these ,or let me know if you don’t, I’d love
some reaction, so that I know you are still out there
in Sedgie Land, Blessings , Ginny

Wors Braai and Treasure Hunt Report
from your chair – Janice Gibson
There was fun-and-games at this year’s Wors Braai .
We were all set up for the braai at Irene’s and people were arriving having done the
treasure hunt, when the skies got darker and darker and threatened rain.
So, a snap decision was made to switch venue to my house so we could be undercover.
Everyone grabbed something and we all set off.
(I had to make a mad dash to get there first and remove my laundry maid off the table
at the back amid lots of laughter and comments regarding my underwear...lol)
The event then went ahead with no problems. The guys at the braai did a wonderful
job and we must congratulate Irene for selecting and buying a really tasty wors locally.
Huge thanks to Dennis and Jo Cook for arranging such a great Treasure Hunt for us,
they had the honour of announcing the winners of the bottles of wine who were ……...
1st Place - Yvonne Marais and team
2nd Place - Johan Pretorious and team
3rd Place – John and Laurie Robson
Yvonne Marais had an extremely good day as she also won the In It to Win It
membership draw with the princely sum of R700.00! Well-done Yvonne .
Unfortunately, there are no known photographs from the afternoon so a photo of
some random wors on the braai must suffice LOL.
