Polar fleece gives this jar topper loft. STEP: 1 Using editing software, copy lg002017 "Holiday Greetings" and paste into the center of lg002018 "Jar Lid Ring." I sized lg002017 up. Extract the holly from lg002001, then add to the revised jar lid. Play with placement until you like it. Draw another circle slightly larger than the jar ring & apply a 5mm run for a basting stitch. Move to back of design so it sews first. If your software can’t do this, copy circle to a new file, then copy and paste lettering and holly on top. Delete the jar ring design. Save design, export for sewing machine, load to machine. This design will sew first, then the applique. The basting stitch performs double duty as both a placement guide and added security. My machine does not have a baste function. You can skip this step and use a baste function in your software or machine if you like. STEP: 2 Gather your supplies. This time I’ve cut two 7” squares of fabric using a scallop blade rotary cutter. Once again I’ll use a piece of polar fleece for loft. I'm also using tearaway stabilizer, cord or ribbon to tie onto jar, and a rubber band to hold in place. You’ll also need coordinating embroidery threads, a canning type jar, and “TESA” (Temporary Embroidery Spray Adhesive, such as 505 Spray and Fix).

Gingery Christmas - HolidayGreetings Jar TopperIn this project we will create a Holiday Greetings topperusing editing software. Polar fleece gives this jar topperloft.

STEP: 1Using editing software, copy lg002017 "HolidayGreetings" and paste into the center of lg002018 "JarLid Ring." I sized lg002017 up. Extract the hollyfrom lg002001, then add to the revised jar lid. Playwith placement until you like it. Draw another circleslightly larger than the jar ring & apply a 5mm runfor a basting stitch. Move to back of design so it sewsfirst. If your software can’t do this, copy circle to anew file, then copy and paste lettering and holly ontop. Delete the jar ring design. Save design, export forsewing machine, load to machine. This design willsew first, then the applique. The basting stitchperforms double duty as both a placement guide andadded security. My machine does not have a bastefunction. You can skip this step and use a bastefunction in your software or machine if you like.

STEP: 2

Gather your supplies. This time I’ve cut two 7”squares of fabric using a scallop blade rotary cutter.Once again I’ll use a piece of polar fleece for loft. I'malso using tearaway stabilizer, cord or ribbon to tieonto jar, and a rubber band to hold in place. You’llalso need coordinating embroidery threads, a canningtype jar, and “TESA” (Temporary Embroidery SprayAdhesive, such as 505 Spray and Fix).

STEP: 3

Using a ruler, draw vertical and horizontal guides, dividing the circle into four equal sized quadrants(see graphic for this step): for perfect alignment, mark the center of the circle.

STEP: 4

Use a ruler to draw guides: Mark the center of thecircle for perfect alignment.

STEP: 5

TESA (spray with temporary spray adhesive, like 505Spray and fix) back of design fabric.

STEP: 7

Unfold fabric, keeping fold lines aligned withpenciled guides, aligning folded fabric across twoquadrants of the hoop.

Smooth TESA'd fabric into position on the hoopedtear-away. Back up one color change (beginning ofthe design) and re-sew the basting stitch to attach thefabric to the stabilizer and reduce fabric shifting.

STEP: 9

Embroider the remainder of the jar lid design.Remove tear-away. Leave initial basting stitch intactto aid in placement later.

STEP: 10

Hoop another layer of tear-away, load the jar ringapplique design, and once again sew the placementstitch.
