Dexter

Dexter is a TV series that was aired between 2006 to 2013. The plot is about a serial killer called Dexter, who relies on his fathers code to make

kills, however Dexter is also in the forensics department for the Miami homicide department

The sequence opens with Dexter slapping a mosquito on his arm, this immediately leads us into the death and murder aspect of the show.

During the credits this scene comes up, this introduces the sequence and u can see that the word is red with platters of blood, giving off a psychotic effect.

This screenshot is an extreme close up shot of Dexter shaving, the fact that it shows the blade going up the throat/neck could show a violent feature

This screen grab is another extreme close up of him putting a tissue on the cut from shaving, the reason it goes to this extreme close up of the tissue soaking up the blood is because it shows off Dexter's love for blood.

The sequence then moves into Dexter’s own sequence, it shows him making his breakfast but he does it strangely, he cooks his meat first and eats it, then the egg, then his blood orange. This shows that Dexter has his own routine for his mornings and he does it his own way. This shows that Dexter is an individual man and thrives on his own, taken from his ‘rebellious’ way of eating breakfast.

This title sequence ends with Dexter leaving his apartment, the camera shot takes him looking across the balcony and winking, showing that he is just an average guy, this is almost giving off a false impression of Dexter. Almost as if his apartment is where he is his true self, with his routines, and then when he leaves he puts on this fake impression to cover up his true self.
