LocationGillyflower Cottage is in a quiet rural position in the middle of the
small hamlet of Far Oakridge, on elevated ground with lovely south
facing views over the Golden Valley. It is within walking distance of
an excellent primary school, public house, village shop/post office,
church, cricket ground and tennis club. The surrounding
countryside is amongst the most beautiful in the Cotswolds and is
designated as being an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The PropertyGillyflower Cottage is a charming detached Cotswold stone
cottage dating from the 18th century. Built of natural Cotswold
stone with a traditional stone tiled roof, the property has been
extended by previous and current owners. The most recent
extension, which sits off the kitchen, includes a boot room and
downstairs WC. On the ground floor there is plenty of large
entertaining space, including a family room/ dining room, a sitting
room, a study with separate downstairs loo and a large fully fitted
kitchen. On the first floor there are four bedrooms three of which
are doubles and two large family bathrooms one with a shower and
the other with a bath.
Garden and GroundsA drive leads off the quiet lane onto a private gravelled parking
area in front of the double garage and an attached studio/
workshop, both with lighting and power. The gardens have also
been redesigned by the current owners. The front and rear garden
are laid mainly with lawn and mature beds surrounding. To the
front the property has a Cotswold dry stone wall.
DirectionsFrom Cirencester take the A419 towards Stroud. After about 3
miles, turn right, signposted Sapperton. Drive past Sapperton
down into the Valley and opposite The Daneway Inn, turn left
towards Bisley. Follow the road through the woods and through the
small hamlet of Tunley. As the road climbs up a hill, turn left
signposted to Far Oakridge, Chalford. After about half a mile you
will reach the edge of the hamlet. Take the left fork. At the next
junction by the small green, turn right and Gillyflower Cottage will
be found straight ahead of you.
