Chiawei Lin (Taiwan)

Fanfare Studies Donald Crockett Sonata No. 3, BWV 1005 J.S. Bach Adagio Fuga Largo Allegro assai

Biography Chiawei Lin was born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in 1988. He began playing guitar at four years of age, taking lessons from his father. A few years later, he became the pupil of two highly respected guitarists in Taiwan—Professor Panpei Huang, the leader of a respected guitar ensemble, and Showlee Huang, an in-demand performer and lecturer. Since then Chiawei has managed to earn many prestigious national honors and awards administered by the Taiwan government. Chiawei earned eight first-place prizes and four second-place prizes in the past three years alone—at locations including Germany’s Koblenz International Guitar Festival and the Altamira Competition Iserlohn. Chiawei currently studies guitar performance with the influential teacher and classical guitarist, Professor Hubert Käppel, at the Koblenz International Guitar Academy, and also attends the Cologne University of Music, in Cologne, Germany.

Armen Doneyan (France)

Biography Born in 1989, Armen Doneyan began his study of the guitar at the age of six with Alexandre Gérard. He continued his musi-cal education with Daniel Lavialle, then with Ramon de Herrera at the Paris Conservatoire National de Region, and obtained the first prize in 2008. Entering the Aulnay-sous-Bois Conservatoire à Rayonement Départemental the same year, he studied with Judicaël Perroy. He studied for the past five years with Roland Dyens and Jean Marc Zvellenreuther at the Paris Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique, and obtained his masters degree in 2015. He also studies with Jeremy Jouve during summer classes and master classes. Armen has won top prizes in several international competitions in England, Germany, Italy and France. His passion for cham-ber music led him to create Duo Solea in 2009 with the French cellist Michèle Pierre. They explore the existing repertoire for that ensemble while also working with composers.
