Safety and Security

Safety is a key concern at GMSP and parents are reminded to drop off your child at the designated car parks so as not to cause unnecessary traffic congestion or accidents in front of our school gate. With the school upgrading in progress, please continue to cooperate so that the school is a safe place for everyone. In addition, since upgrading works began, pupils are not allowed to use the short cut to the MRT station. All pupils are to walk using the footpath specially created from the MRT station to the school. Do help to role model safe behaviours for our pupils at all times.

More importantly, please continue to pray for safety during school upgrading and more support for our school’s fundraising. We are blessed to be teaching and learning at GMSP but we need everyone to bless the school too! With the Lord our Guide, always by our side!

Throughout the year, if you have urgent concerns, constructive feedback on staff matters and suggestions on school improvement issues, I would appreciate your direct communication via email to our school email address: [email protected] or leave a message at the general office for the school leaders (Principal or Vice-Principal and/or HODs) to get back to you. Thanking you in advance for supporting our school improvement through your feedback. Do keep yourself updated on school events via our website : http://www.geylangmethodistpri.moe.edu.sg/ Mrs Rina Liang Principal ‘Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in Heaven’ Matthew 5:16

Updating of Pupils’ particulars In view of the recent haze situation in the country, we need to update parents’ particulars. In January, your child was given a form for the updating of parents’ particulars so that in case of any emergency, we are able to keep you posted. Please do keep the school posted via email or inform the form teachers if you have made any changes in your particulars since the last update. This is important and we seek your cooperation. As a school, we will continue to monitor the air quality and send sms alerts to parents if necessary via SNAC. The school will check the following websites: www.nea.gov.sg or www.haze.gov.sg. The school will be alerted if the air quality is unhealthy and when the forecasted 24-hr PSI is ‘Unhealthy’. Do keep a watch out for your child especially if he/she is asthmatic and should stay indoors. If there is school closure, it will be announced through the media and we will also inform all of you via SNAC.

With holistic assessment, we will be adopting a balanced approach to assessment that includes both assessment of learning (AoL) which evaluates if curricular outcomes have been achieved and assessment for learning (AfL), which involves the use of on-going formative assessment to support learning. We will be using a range of appropriate assessment methods to better support your child’s holistic development.
