When gathering information from only a teacher provides you as a student some distinct advantages and disadvantages

AdvantagesYou find out what the teacher thinks is

importantGenerally, if it hasn’t been covered in

class it will not be on the testTeachers usually tailor the information

so that you can understand it

DisadvantagesYou are forced to keep up with your

teacherTeachers set the pace and often do most

of the talkingTeachers jump from one topic to another

topic and it becomes hard to followYou are in a passive state, not actively

involved

Disadvantages continued…Not actively involved in the conversation

makes it difficult to concentrateFollowing a lecture does not mean you

study for a test is to create an environment in which you as a student can find out what your teacher values which are your class notes and actively engage yourself in the support material i.e. Book, written material, videos etc.. thus covering all ends
