Be practicalyou’re hanging onto things only because you feel

Be sensitiveyou’re going to have to tell the difference between an

heirloom and useless crap

ASK YOURSELF SOME QUESTIONS

1. What do I keep ‘just in case’?

2. Do I have hobbies I gave up? Interests I’m not interested in?

3. How much clothing do I really need?

Page 6: Get a (Minimalist) Life

Think about these questions.

Hard.

Once you have answers, roll up your sleeves. Your minimalist life is about to begin.

GO THROUGH YOUR STUFF

This will take WAY longer than you think (I guarantee)Start room by room

For each item, review your options:

keep

sell

donate

recycle

trash

Commit to working at this weekly

DITCH YOUR DEADWEIGHT

Fix it if you can, and if you can’t, trash it

Say goodbye, and finally recycle your textbooks

Craigslist or Kijiji whatever you can

Plan a trip to the dump for things you can’t sell, consign, recycle, or donate

Don’t give up

This is not easy. If this were, everyone would do it.

It gets easier

The first decisions are difficult, but you will improve.

Stick with it

Don’t stop halfway, make time to finish. This is important.

CONCLUSION

You’re headed for a minimalist life, a simpler life, a clutter-free life. Don’t confuse this with an empty life.

The more you get rid of things, the more room you’ll have for what really matters.

It’s worth it.
