Aerial Survey May 19th, 2016

Summary: Aerial Imagery obtained on May 19th, 2016 show s standing surface w ater to equal approximately 26,390 square feet (0.6 acres) This is an increase of approximately 20,000 square feet from the previous year (6165 square feet). This w as caused by Beavers w ho built a 140’ long dam crossing a seasonal river on the subject parcel. In addition to one main pond created by the 140’ long dam, there are four smaller ponds dow n-stream from the main pond. These are also the result of beaver damming activity. Measurements derived from georeferenced aerial imagery show s that betw een 2004 and 2015 there w as only a single pond in this field. That pond’s surface area fluctuated betw een 5689 square feet, and 6545 square feet. The fluctuation is commensurate w ith seasonal variation in w ater level. The existing pond is a man-made structure, w hich has an outlet on the north east. This outlet historically flow ed into the seasonal creek that crossed the land. It appears the Beaver may have enhanced the outlet digging a trench from the original man made pond to the new pond created behind their main dam.
