Geometry In The Real WORLD

Point

A point is a location and no size. A line is defined as something that extends infinitely in either direction but has no width and is one dimensional while a plane extends infinitely in two dimensions

This picture matches my definition because it showsa real life example of a point , the center of the

Flower represents the point.

Line

A line is a straight one-dimensional figure having no thickness and extending infinitely in both directions. A line is sometimes called a straight line or, more archaically,& a right line .

This picture explains my definition so well because the line in this picture does not have too much thickness and it extends infinitely in both directions.

Plane

A plane is a flat, two-dimensional surface. A plane is the two-dimensional analogue of a point (zero dimensions).

This picture fit my definition of plane becauseq it has two flat dimensional surfaces

on eachside.

Segment

A line segment is a piece, or part, of a line in geometry. A line segment is represented by endpoints on each end of the line segment.

This is a picture of a butter knife it represents a segment becauseit has two endpoints on it and it really bring out my

definition more.

Ray

A ray is a line with an endpoint that extends infinitely in one direction.

This is a picture of a Sun Ray

One of the most obvious examples is a sun's ray of light in space.

This picture is a Ray because the sun is a end point and the the things coming from it is the lines.

Collinear Points

Three or more points , , , ..., are said to be collinear if they lie on a single straight line . A line on which points lie, especially if it is related to a geometric figure such as a triangle, is sometimes called an axis. Two points are trivially collinear since two points determine a line.

Acute Angle

An acute angle is an angle smaller than a right angle (it is less than 90 degrees).

These are all pictures on Acute Angles because the are all less that 90 degrees and these are all real life examples.

Obtuse Angles

An Obtuse Angle that measures more than 90 degrees but less than 180 degrees.

The Hockey stick represent my definition because it is more than 90 but

less than 180.

Right Angle

An Angle of 90°, as in a corner of a square or at the intersection of two perpendicular straight lines.

These real life examples fit best because

it shows what a Right Angle look like.

Perpendicular Lines

Perpendicular Lines intersect to form four right Angles .

These real life examples give you a good look at the definition and it shows you lines intersecting each other.

Complementary Angles

Complementary Angles Add up to 90 degrees.
