THE FACTORY INSTALLED LONG-LIFE COOLANT MUST BE REPLACED ACCORDING TO MAINTENANCE MINDER SUB CODE 5, OR AT 10 YEARS WHICHEVER COMES FIRST.
THEREAFTER EVERY 5 YEARS.
WHEN ADDING OR REPLACING THE COOLANT, ALWAYS USE Honda RECOMMENDED GENUINE LONG-LIFE ANTI-FREEZE/COOLANT TYPE 2. THIS COOLANT IS PRE-MIXED
WITH 50% DISTILLED WATER. IT DOES NOT REQUIRE ANY ADDITIONAL MIXING.
NEVER DILUTE THE COOLANT, OR THE LIFE OF THE ENGINE MAY BE SERIOUSLY SHORTENED.
CHECK OR ADD THE COOLANT AT THE RESERVE TANK, NOT THE RADIATOR.
FOR FURTHER INFORMATION ON THE COOLING SYSTEM, READ THE OWNER’S MANUAL OR CHECK WITH YOUR Honda DEALER.

NOTE: If you are going to remove heavy componentssuch as suspension or the fuel tank from the rear of thevehicle, first support the front of the vehicle with tallsafety stands. When substantial weight is removedfrom the rear of the vehicle, the center of gravity canchange, causing the vehicle to tip forward on the lift.
1. Position the lift blocks (A) under the vehicle’s frontsupport points (B) and rear support points (C).
2. Raise the lift a few inches, and rock the vehiclegently to be sure it’s firmly supported.
3. Raise the lift to its height, and inspect the vehiclesupport points for solid contact with the lift blocks.
To support the vehicle on safety stands, use the samesupport points (B and C) as for a vehicle lift. Always usesafety stands when working on or under any vehiclethat is supported only by a jack.
1. When lifting the front of the vehicle, set the parkingbrake. When lifting the rear of the vehicle, put theshift lever in the P position.
2. Block the wheels that are not being lifted.
3. Position the floor jack under the front jackingbracket (A) or the rear jacking bracket (B). Centerthe jacking bracket on the jack lift platform (C), andjack up the vehicle high enough to fit the safetystands under it.
4. Position the safety stands under the support pointsand adjust them so the vehicle is level.
5. Lower the vehicle onto the stands.

Emergency Towing
Flat-bed Equipment
This is the only way of
transporting the vehicle.
Wheel Lift Equipment
Never tow the vehicle with this wheel
lift equipment.

If the vehicle needs to be towed, call a professionaltowing service. Never tow the vehicle behind anothervehicle with a rope or chain. It is very dangerous.
There are three popular methods of towing a vehicle.
The operator loads the vehicleon the back of a truck.
To accommodate flat-bed equipment, the vehicle isequipped with a front towing hook (A), front tie downhook slot (B), rear towing hook (C), and rear tie downhook slot (D).
The towing hooks can be used with a winch to pull thevehicle onto the truck, and the tie down hook slots canbe used to secure the vehicle to the truck.
The tow truck uses twopivoting arms that go under the tires (front or rear) andlift them off the ground. The other two wheels remainon the ground.
The tow truck uses metalcables with hooks on the ends. These hooks go aroundparts of the frame or suspension, and the cables lift thatend of the vehicle off the ground. The vehicle’ssuspension and body can be seriously damaged if thismethod of towing is attempted.
The only recommended way of towing the Ridgeline ison a flat-bed truck.
• Towing the Ridgeline with only two wheels on theground will damage parts of the 4WD system. If thevehicle is damaged, it should be transported on a flat-bed truck or trailer.
• Trying to lift or tow the vehicle by the bumpers willcause serious damage. The bumpers are notdesigned to support the vehicle’s weight.
For non-emergency towing information, refer to theowner’s manual.
This vehicle has a class three trailer hitch (A) asstandard equipment. The cover (B), the ball mount (C),the hitch pin (D), and the hitch pin clip (E) are stored inthe in-bed trunk.

General Information
Parts Marking Precautions for Variable TorqueManagement 4WD (VTM-4) System
To deter vehicle theft, certain major components aremarked with the vehicle identification number (VIN).Original parts have self-adhesive labels. Replacementbody parts have generic self-adhesive labels. Theselabels should not be removed. The original engine ortransmission VIN plates are not transferable to thereplacement engine or transmission.
NOTE: Be careful not to damage the parts markinglabels during body repair. Mask the labels beforerepairing the part.
This vehicle is equipped with the Variable TorqueManagement 4WD (VTM-4) System. The VTM-4 systemdistributes driving torque between the front and rearwheels when accelerating and when wheel spin occurs.
The VTM-4 system does not have a manual switch todisable the 4WD system. Whenever service workrequires spinning the front or rear wheels with theengine, always lift and support the vehicle so all fourwheels are off the ground.
