ORDER

Whereas the Cabinet has decided that a resolution should be introduced in the House of Representatives, being a resolution which will have the effect of altering the rate of import duty on the articles specified in Column I of the Schedule hereto:

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by section 2 of the Revenue Protection Act, No. 19 of 1962, I, Fslix Reginald Dias Bandaranaike, Minister of Finance, do by this Order, require the Principal Collector of Customs to demand and levy from midnight of 26-27 July I962, on each article specified in Column I of the Schedule hereto import duty at the General Rate set out in the corresponding entry in Column III of that Schedule, or, where a Preferential Rate is leviable and payable under the provisions of Schedule A to the Customs Ordinance (Chapter 235), at the Preferential Rate set out in the corresponding entry in Column II of that Schedule.

IMPORTERS are hereby informed that an individual import licence is now required for the import."tion from any source, of Textiles of any description. Imports hitherto made on General Import (Textiles) Licences or on General Import Licences will not be permitted hereafter.

2. Licences will be issued for the importation of these goods at my discretion. A further notification will follow.

Now, therefore, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by section 2 of the Revenue Protection Act, No. 19 of 1962, I, Felix Reginald Dias Bsndaranaike, Minister of Finance, do by this Order, require the Principal Collector of Customs to demand and levy, from midnight of 3-4 August I962, on all articles not specified in the Schedule hereto, the import duties payable under the existing law increased by 20 p.,-r centum th^r-of in the crs.. of every such duty.

Dangerous petroleum as defined in section 36 of the Petroleum Ordinance (Chapter 184), including any inflammable hydrocarbon (inoluding any mixture of hydrocarbon and any liquid containing hydrocarbon) which is capable of being used for providing reasonably effective motive power of a motor car.

Kerosene oil as defined in section 167 of the Customs Ordinance (Chapter 235)* except dangerous petroleum.
