Proceeds from the tournament will go to One Small Step for Prader-Will Syndrome.

“Being from southern Louisiana we are known for our amazing food! We don’t have winter, summer, spring and fall... We have crawfish, crab, oyster & shrimp season. All our festivals are named after food.. Catfish fest, French food fest, gumbo fest.. Now could you imagine your world being revolved around food but in a to-tally different sense? Always feeling like you are starving to death when you are not, and only having one-third the metabolism as a typical peer so you only need one-third the food & calories to function! This is what my daugh-ter lives with day in and day out, Prader-Willi Syndrome. When she was first diagnosed one of the first doctors told me “It’s a feeling of hunger not like you skipped breakfast and its lunch time and your body is hungry, but more like you have been trapped in a desert for 7 days without food or water and your body is literally feeling like it is starving to death.” If you have a child, you cannot imagine the horrifying reality of what your child is going to have to go through day in and day out! And there is nothing to control or stop this pain! This is why we fundraise! In hopes of a cure or medicine that will help our loved ones dealing with PWS to manage their day-to-day functions.”

- Kelly RobbinsSt. Charles Parish resident & mother of child with PWS

New Standard for Confined Spaces:FAQ:A confined space has:

- Limited means of entry and/or exit,

- Is large enough for a worker to en-

ter it, and - Is not intended

for regular/continuous occupancy.

Examples:Sewers, pits, crawl

spaces, attics & boilers

On May 4, 2015, OSHA issued a new standard for construction work in confined spaces, which will be effective starting August 3, 2015. Confined spaces can present physical and atmospheric hazards that can be avoided if they are recognized and addressed prior to entering these spaces to perform work. The new standard, Subpart AA of 29 CFR 1926 will help prevent con-struction workers from being hurt or killed by eliminating and isolating haz-ards in confined spaces at construction sites similar to the way workers in other industries are already protected. The questions and answers below are provided to assist employers in protecting their workers while working in and around confined spaces in construction.

How do I know whether to follow the general industry or construction confined space rule? If you are doing construction work - such as building a new structure or upgrading an old one - then you must follow the construction confined space rule.

I’ve been following the general industry rule. What is new or different about the construction rule? There are 5 key differences from the construction rule, and several areas where OSHA has clarified existing requirements. They are:1. More detailed provisions requiring coordinated activities when there are multiple employers at the worksite. This will ensure hazards are not intro-duced into a confined space by workers performing tasks outside the space. An example would be a generator running near the entrance of a confined space causing a buildup of carbon monoxide within the space.2. Requiring a competent person to evaluate the work site and identify con-fined spaces, including permit spaces.3. Requiring continuous atmospheric monitoring whenever possible. 4. Requiring continuous monitoring of engulfment hazards. For example, when workers are performing work in a storm sewer, a storm upstream from the workers could cause flash flooding. An electronic sensor or observer post-ed upstream from the work site could alert workers in the space at the first sign of the hazard, giving the workers time to evacuate the space safely. 5. Allowing for the suspension of a permit, instead of cancellation, in the event of changes from the entry conditions list on the permit or an unexpect-ed event requiring evacuation of the space. The space must be returned to the entry conditions listed on the permit before re-entry.
