Gerfen Once again we have the unpleasant task of announcing the passing of another long-time member. Below is the obituary: A from Helen Our membership continues to prosper and grow due to the interest in classes being offered at various locations. New members are very excited and always comment how friendly and nice everyone is. What a great tribute to our club. Our new program is now being offered at our upcoming scheduled Gigs. A diverse selection of songs seems to satisfy everyone. After every performance the audience has been so complimentary about our group. Our performance schedule is already booking up even up to December. IMPRINTING ON VESTS: If you are interested in having the back of your red vest printed with the GHC Logo, please remember that the cut-off date for submitting your vest is at the June 6th meeting. Please write your name on the reverse side of the size tag. Printing may take about two weeks. Hooded sweatshirts, with the logo imprinted on the back can also be ordered for an approximate cost of $30.00. Order forms are at each meeting as is a catalogue showing the sweatshirt. We will be having our annual picnic and more information will be provided by the Executive Committee. This is a family event. We had such a wonderful turn-out last year. It gave us an opportunity to get to know one another in a very relaxed atmosphere. A wide variety of tasty food was in abundance. “Open Mike” is always a big hit. Mike and Tina Wisecarver traveled from Bowling Green, MO, with their talented and cute daughter, Kiersi, the night before and stayed at the Drury Hotel. Kiersi, age eight, played the following six songs on the diatonic, three different times on stage: “Baby Please Don’t Go”, St. James Infirmary”, “Lip Smackin Blues”, “Blues in a Box”, “St. Louis Blues” and “Swinging Boogie Blues”. Kiersi, who is GHC’s youngest member, was terrific! You can catch her on Facebook and at the SPAH convention in San Antonia, TX (August 9-13, 2016).

If you like using tabbed music in order to simplify playing songs that you are familiar with, then another great site that you can check out is Harptabs (www.harptabs.com). Some samples from the website are below and you can see that they provide excellent information about the proper harmonica (diatonic or chromatic) and the key, etc. Harptabs has more than 21,000 tabbed songs on the website and more are added each day. I’m sure you can spend hours on the site or you can search for a particular song and print it out. Enjoy your music and, most of all, have fun!
