With the summer ending and our
renovations almost complete, we hope all
are ready for some fun, fall activities. Autumn is right around
the corner!
We would like to wish all of our Mews Residents, families and
friends a Happy Labor Day!
Raising the Titanic" with Sabrina
Sabrina's presentation entitled, "Raising the Titanic," will give
participants an informative and interactive lecture involving the
complex story behind the Titanic. During this program, Sabrina will
inspire her participants to travel back in time with her creative and
imaginative performance. With an amazing array of historical
photographs of the ship and passengers, residents will get a first-
hand look into what life was like aboard the iconic vessel. This class
was a big hit last month at the Inn. Resident's are still talking about
it!

The Gardens
Back to school means that the
kids are coming back! We had
so much fun with the Gateway
School children last year.
The children visit monthly
with our Inn and Gardens
residents. They often bring a
craft for residents to create
with them or sometimes board games and such to play.
Everyone enjoys their visits and we are looking forward to their
return. The kids and their teachers invited the residents to their
school last year where they decorated the classroom and prepared
lunch. They often come and bring lunch as well to sit and visit with
their new adopted grandparents. Their visit is not reflected on the
calendar this month but we will inform you as soon as they get
their transportation for the year finalized.
It's Back toSchool Time September Is Healthy Aging Month:
Tips for Seniors to Stay Happy & Healthy
1. Stay Social: Social activities can be a
great way to keep seniors feeling
younger and more focused.
2. Go for a Walk: Walking is one of the
easiest methods of getting regular
exercise.
3. Eat Right: Eating plenty of fruits and
vegetables, along with healthy whole
grains, fish and other foods rich in heart-
friendly nutrients to keep a well-
balanced diet.
4. Get Regular Medical Care: Keep
regular doctor’s appointments and follow
through with any recommendations.
Path to Well-Being
Rosemary and Puppy "China"
There is nothing more rewarding then seeing the joy and smiles when
residents interact with pets. Pets are a part of our family and were a big
part of theirs. Pet therapy is a rewarding and meaningful program that
occurs throughout the month. Our Mews mascot Jake, the Jack Russel,
enjoys his purpose as a pet therapy dog and all of the attention he gets as
well. Jake is a senior as well and will be 17 years old this coming January.
That's 79 in human years. Jake still acts like a puppy although his eyesight
is fading. In the picture you can see Rosemary is delighted to holding
one team member Jocelyn's new puppy. What a beautiful sight...
