Last season, the Aggies spent a season-long four consecutive weeks among those receiving votes from Feb. 14 to March 7, making their debut in the “votes” column on Dec. 13 and picking up a season-high 11 votes on Jan. 10 after opening Big West play with a 2-0 mark.

ELSEWHERE IN THE POLLS: Neither Southern Utah, Seattle, nor UC Davis, are ranked in either the Associated Press or USA Today top 25 polls.

BE A FOLLOWER: Fans can keep up with the latest in UC Davis athletics by “liking” us on Facebook (facebook.com/UCDavis-Aggies) and following us on Twitter (@UCDavisAggies). WINDEX WOMEN: Senior Marly Anderson cleaned the glass to the tune of a career-high tying 11 boards and wasjoinedindoublefiguresbyPeleGianotti,whoadd-ed 10 rebounds as part of her 18-point double-double. ItmarkedthefirsttimesinceMarch11,2016,againstUCRiverside at the Big West Tournament that the Aggies had a pair of players with double-digit boards.

DANI DISHES HER WAY TO PROGRAM RECORD: Already the program’s Division I record holder for career assists with 295, senior guard Dani Nafekh needs only fivemoreassiststobecometheeighthplayerinthehistory of the program with 300 for a career. Nafekh surpassed Hana Asano’s mark of 285 set from 2008-12 for the Division I mark and stands ninth on the all-time list, just four back of Kari Sivesind (1992-96) for eighth.

GIBB MAKES HER DEBUT: When redshirt freshman Emma Gibb grabbed a rebound and dished out an assist against Portland State on Feb. 17, it marked the McMinnville,Ore.,native’sDivisionIdebutandherfirstgame since her junior year of high school after missing allofherseniorprepseasonandherfirstyearatUCDavis due to injury.

BY THE NUMBERS:Losingonlyoneplayeroffoflastseason’s roster means Head Coach Jennifer Gross has an embarassment of riches statistically to work with for the 2017-18 campaign. The Aggies bring back all but 17 of their 2,274 points, all but 20 of their 1,242 rebounds, allbutsevenoftheir533assists,allbutfiveoftheir846fieldgoalsmade,everyoneoftheir252three-pointers,and all but seven of their free throws, from the 2016-17 season. What does it all mean? We don’t know, but numbers are fun.

MILESTONE ACHIEVED: UC Davis junior forward Morgan Bertsch became the 18th player in the history of the program to reach 1,000 career points with her basket inside at the 1:49 mark of the third quarter on Nov.12againstPepperdine.Bertsch,whofinishedwitha career-high tying 27 points -- 21 of those in the second half -- in the win over the Waves, became only the fourth junior in program history to accomplish the feat, joining all-time leading scorer Carol Rische, Sydnee Fipps (who ranks No. 2 on the all-time list), and Ellen Porshneva (who is No. 8 all-time in career points).

HOW BIG WAS THE HOOP?: En route to her 27 points against Pepperdine, Bertsch broke the UC Davis DivisionIsingle-gamerecordforfieldgoalsmadeintheprocess,making13-of-18fromthefieldtoeclipseJessica Campbell’s mark of 12 against Saint Mary’s on Dec. 17, 2007.

As a player, she set school records and became one of the greatest point guards to ever don an Aggie uniform. As an assistant and associate head coach, she turned UC Davis into an immediate forceintheBigWestConferencebyimplementingoneofthemostdifficultoffensiveschemesinthegame. In her six seasons as head coach, Jennifer Gross has continued the tradition of excellence instilled in her throughout her entire Aggie career. Selected as the 2017 Big West Conference Coach of the Year after guiding her alma mater to 25 wins, a Big West regular season title, and a trip to the “Sweet 16” of the Women’s National Invitation Tournament, Gross was named head coach of the women’s basketball program in October of 2010 and guided UC Davis to immediate success.
