Most courses in GMIT this year will be delivered in a blended fashion, other than School of Business programmes and Heritage, Tourism, Retail and Event Management programmes in the Galway International Hotel School, which will be delivered fully online.

Blended learning at GMIT combines online learning with traditional classroom and laboratory based learning activities on campus.  In a blended course, you will att end some classes on campus, and also engage with digital tools and resources e.g. online classes, videos, readings, discussions, activities and assessments.

Blended learning classes are  timetabled and require you to engage in both an online learning class environment and onsite practicals in a studio, lab or lecture theatre, as relevant to your programme.   Combining online learning with traditional practical classroom/lab based activities, can be a very rewarding experience. To learn more about the steps to success in learning online in GMIT and gain some practical advice, go to htt ps://student.gmit.ie and click on Blended Learning.

We have a range of supports in place to assist our students this year. We have recruited Graduate mentors who will be there to support and advise you throughout the year. You will meet them at induction.  We also run a Peer Assisted Student Support (PASS) programme, where students from 2nd and 3rd year volunteer as PASS leaders running weekly sessions with fi rst year students to answer general queries and facilitate learning.  Your lecturers and Head of Department are also available to help and advise you during your course.  GMIT is committ ed to ensuring that you have an excellent student experience, so please keep in contact and avail of our supports and services.
