GCF supports our community by: Stimulating and facilitating a spirit of philanthropy; Being accountable and prudent managers of donor funds; Making responsive and informed grants and; Investing resources to address community priorities and interests.

We aspire to develop resources which equip and empower residents physically, intellectually and economically so they may reach their full individual and collective potential. Healthy communities focus their efforts on productive dialogue, collaborative action, team building and unity of purpose. Residents of such communities bond in the common benefits of a strong education system; abundant physical activity opportunities; adequate, affordable and effective health care; and access to the arts.

our funding areasartsWe want the arts to be accessible to all members of our community. We have encouraged the arts through grants to local organizations such as Choral Dynamics, Galesburg Community Chorus, Prairie Players Civic Theatre and the Orpheum Theatre.

health careOur organization has assisted local non-profit health care organizations since our 2004. We seek to see adequate, affordable and effective health care as a hallmark of our community. We have provided grants to many organizations, such as the Knox County Health Department, Alternatives for the Older Adult and Bridgeway.

We have also provided scholarships to many local students entering a health care field.

physical activityWe know that a healthy community is made up of healthy people. With that in mind, we have provided grant funding for local non-profit organizations which encourage physical activity opportunities. We have resourced groups such as the Galesburg Youth Athletic Club, Rainbow Riders, Special Olympics Illinois and Triumph Services.

educationGCF understands that education is a critical component of a healthy community. Therefore, we have provided resources to local organizations which provide educational services such as Galesburg Public Library, Discovery Depot and Carl Sandburg College.

ways to givedonor-advised fundEstablishing a donor-advised fund allows you to actively participate in the grantmaking process by recommending organizations you wish to support. Grants are issued to charities in the name of the fund, or anonymously if preferred.

field of interest fundYou may select an area of interest rather than restricting the money to one organization. We will support local organizations that match your interests. These funds are flexible enough to meet changing community needs in your interest area.

unrestricted fundAn unrestricted fund allows us the discretion to use available grant dollars for a broad range of community issues. These gifts provide the opportunity to respond to changing community needs that are difficult to anticipate at the time the fund is created.

scholarship fundScholarship funds allow you to invest in the community’s future and help deserving students – from preschool to postgraduate – achieve their lifetime dreams. These funds provide support for individuals pursuing a training or educational opportunity.
