Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel is a family owned funeral home

located in Weatherford, Texas. The funeral home was opened in

1954 by Robert Galbreaith, John Galbreaith, and Lambert

Pickard. J. V. Plowman went to work for the firm in 1955. J.V.

and Norma Plowman purchased the funeral home in 1975, after

J.V.’s passing in 2007 Norma became and is the current owner.

Our firm is dedicated to the service of families in our community

and surrounding area. We strive to serve each family as if they

are a part of our own family.

Our staff is dedicated to meet the needs of families who have

suffered the death of a loved one.

This informational booklet and pricing guide is provided to assist

you with information and estimating the cost of a funeral service.

Our staff will be happy to answer any question or, we will direct

you to the right source for answers to your questions.



Matters of importance

In our daily lives we make choices of various levels of

importance every day. We usually have time to think and pray

about each and every decision we make.

When a loved one dies you are faced with several immediate

decisions. You are faced with making choices that have a very

deep emotional impact on your life. Choosing a funeral home,

what type of funeral service, what cemetery, what casket, what

outer container, etc…. These decisions can be very small and

seemingly unimportant, but some can carry emotional and financial

consequences.

The range of emotions experienced by family members can

vary greatly, but each person has to grieve in his or her own way.

It is our goal at Galbreaith – Pickard Funeral Chapel to assist

families in a professional, dignified manner while attempting to

meet the unique needs of each family.

We can assist families during this transitional time in their

lives. We are not perfect, but we strive to meet all needs the

family will entrust to us.



The pages that follow will assist you with information needed to plan a

funeral either at need or preneed.

Cemeteries:

All cemeteries have individual rules and guidelines regarding: cost, eligibility

for space, outer container requirement, single tier or double tier interments, and

interment fees.

There is no state law that requires an outer container be used for

interments, however some cemeteries do require a minimum outer container for

maintenance purposes.

Some cemeteries are closed and require you live in a specified area, or have

family already interred in the cemetery.

Most rural cemeteries require that you have family already interred in the

cemetery, or for you to live in a specified area.

Cemetery Fee & cost of interment:

Most rural cemeteries charge an interment fee or a maintenance fee payable on

each grave space used. Some rural cemeteries do however charge for each grave

space. Almost all of the rural cemeteries are either privately owned or are

maintained by a cemetery association, consequently they need the interment fees

to assist in maintaining their

maintenance funds.



Fees charged by some of the local cemeteries: East Greenwood Cost for a grave space $750 Cost for grave opening M-F $995 Saturday $1095 After 4 PM add $100 Memory Gardens Cost for grave space $1500 and up Cost for grave opening: Weekdays before 4:00 pm $995 M – F after 4:00 pm add $500 Saturday before noon $1195 Saturday afternoon add $200 Saturday after 4:00 pm add $500 Cost on Major Holiday $1595 No graves opened on Sunday. The after 4:00 pm or after 12 noon on Saturday charge will be made if the family has not left the cemetery prior to designated time. All interment services will be held in the cemetery pavilion. The Standard graveside setup includes tent and 10 chairs. The company that digs the grave does make an additional charge for Sunday, Holidays, and any time special equipment is used (air-hammer, dynamite, etc.). Any grave not contracted to our normal grave service will be at the contractor’s current charge.



General Price List

These prices are effective as of April 19, 2016, but are subject to change without notice. The goods and services shown are those we can provide to our customers. You may choose only those items you desire. However, any funeral arrangements you select will include a charge for our basic service and overhead. If legal or other requirements mean you must buy any items you did not specifically ask for, we will explain in writing on the statement we provide describing the funeral goods and services you selected. This list does not include prices for certain items that you may ask us to buy for you, such as cemetery or crematory services, flowers and newspaper notices. The prices for those items will be shown on your bill or the statement describing the funeral goods and services you selected. (We charge you for our service in buying these Items.)



**Basic Service of Funeral Director and Staff $1945.00

Our basic service charge includes but is not limited to consultation with family and clergy arrangement and direction,

desired preparation and filing of necessary notices, authorization and consents, and other attendance prior to, during and

following the funeral including coordinating with those providing other portions of the funeral (cemetery, crematory, florist

etc.). This fee for our basic services and overhead will be added to the total cost of the funeral arrangements you select.

(this fee is already included in our charge for direct cremation, immediate burials, and forwarding or receiving remains).

** Embalming $695.00

Embalming is not required by law. Embalming may be necessary, however, if you select certain funeral arrangements

such as a funeral with viewing. If you do not want embalming, you usually have the right to choose an arrangement which

does not require you to pay for it, such as direct cremation or immediate burial.

** Other preparation of the body $220.00

This service includes normal cosmetology, hair dressing, or shaving, dressing and casketing of the body or washing,

disinfecting and casketing of the remains if no embalming.

Forwarding Remains to another Funeral Home $2125.00

This charge includes removal of remains (within 25 mi.), services of staff, embalming, necessary authorization, and local transportation to the airport. It does not include the services of staff or the use of facilities for any visitation and/or rites or ceremonies prior to forwarding of the remains. Suitable shipping container or Casket is extra.

Receiving Remains from another Funeral Home $1775.00

This charge includes temporary shelter of the remains, transportation of remains to cemetery or crematory and required services of staff. It does not include the services of staff for ceremony or the use of the facilities for viewing or for funeral rites/ceremonies.

Immediate Burials $2845.00 to $31540.00

Our charge for an immediate burial (without any attendant rites or ceremonies) includes: removal and shelter of remains, local transportation to cemetery, necessary services of staff and authorizations. it does not include embalming.

Direct Cremations $2190.00 to $3088500

Our charge for a direct cremation without any attendant rites or ceremonies includes: removal of and shelter of remains, local transportation to crematory, cremation, necessary services of staff & authorizations**. If you want to arrange a direct cremation, you can use an alternative container. Alternative containers encase the body and can be made of materials like fiberboard or composition materials (with or without outside covering). The containers we provide are: heavy plastic pouch, fiberboard casket.

In most areas of the country, state or local law does not require that you buy a container to surround the casket

in the grave. However, many cemeteries require that you have such a container so that the graves will not settle as

Additional Possible Expenses

Media Obituaries If any media,

including local media, makes a charge for publishing obituaries, that charge

will be passed on to the family.

Death Certificates As of the effective

date of this price list the charge for certified Death Certificates is $20.00

for the first copy and $3.00 for each additional copy ordered at the same

time. The charge for Death Certificates is exactly what the State of Texas

charges. Any Death Certificates ordered from Parker County or any other

County will be at the current price of that County.

Security Traffic Escort

When our funeral processions

cross any major street, we require the family pay a charge of $100.00 for

this service which is performed by off duty local police officers. Funeral

Services outside the City of Weatherford may require contracting with Ft.

Worth Motor Escort with a minimum charge of $300.00

Hair Dressing or other special cosmetics treatments Any

Hairdresser or Cosmetologist will be paid $35 or their current charge for

any hair or cosmetic treatment; the fee will be passed on to the family.

** Special Letters or Authorizations Medical

Examiners Cremation Authorization Letters $20.00 or more, TDC Furlough

If no charge is made by the minister, musician, or vocalist there will be no charge. If a

charge in excess of the aforementioned price is made, that charge will be passed on to the

family. (Example: for an $8000 total funeral bill the estimated musician fee would total

$120.00, minister fee would total, $160.00)

Is there any newspaper(s) you would like the obituary to be published in? Note: Most newspapers do charge for

If He/She is a Veteran, we will assist you in filing for VA Benefits, please provide our office with a copy of the

honorable veterans discharge. (Form # DD-214)

You will need certified copies of the Death Certificate to finish his/her business. Parker County charges $21.00 for

the first copy and $4.00 for each copy ordered at the same time. (Example: 10 DC’s would be $57.00)

We strive to assist families from all walks of life. We attempt to keep cost as low as possible for all family members;

however we are not a lending institution. We can no longer afford to offer in house financing.
