Central Baptist,
Thank you for praying for me during my illness. God miraculously healed me, and I am so grateful. I know God is glorified by the testimony of your prayers.

~Thanks...
Dear Staff and Church Family,
Thank you so much for your caring and prayers as we walk through this dark valley at the loss of our loved one John Marston. We appreciate all your help and the delicious meal served the day of the memorial. It means so much to have a loving Church Family.
Love,

Dear Church Family,
Charles is home and making progress each day. Thank you for every act of kindness, for your love, cards, visits and especially your unfailing prayers. A special “Thank-you” to our Church staff and Deacon Ministry who faithfully lifted us up in prayer. Indeed, the heart of a servant is the sanctuary of God.
We love and miss you!

Dear Church,
In June, we were privileged to accompany Paul, Destry, the Lemkes and a wonderful group of Central youth to Dallas. There they partnered with the Goddards and Access-Life for their 5th Anniversary North Dallas Expo. We cannot say enough about what an awesome blessing they were to all. Access-Life has these expos (six per year) to minister to the disabled community and their families. They provide a free four-hour event with a variety of activities to show the love and gospel of Jesus. They even had two youth to pray to receive Christ. On Friday, our youth worked long and hard with some Access-Life team members to set up 40+ tent and other activities. These included crafts, archery, bal-loons, fishing, boat rides, kayaking and horseback riding and even brought in a rock wall. Our kids were courteous, respectful and so willing to do what was needed. On Saturday, they were there to greet the guests-some were “buddies” to a family, others helped with the horseback
riders, fishing and other activities. On-site lunch was provided with hamburgers, hot dogs, and pork sandwiches. There was also cotton candy, popcorn and snacks provided. At 2:00, the event ended and tear-down began. Everything had to be taken down and stored in a large trailer to be transported to Tennessee for the next event. Despite the 100 degree temperatures, these young people worked diligently until all was done (about 6;30 pm). You can be so proud of this extraordinary group and their leadership and sponsors. We thank God for the experience we enjoyed with this group and Access-Life.

Do your children have a love for reading, or do they see it as a chore? Many books are available at the
Book Nook that can capture a child’s imagination
while filling them with Christian values. One example
is, “Raising Dragons,” by Bryon Davis.
“Raising Dragons” is a contemporary fantasy novel
that inspires young people to dig deep within to find
their God-given strengths and use them to overcome
any obstacle. It is both a hair-raising, modern-day
adventure and a glimpse into another world—a world
of knights, dragons, and fair maidens.
Stories of missionaries are real life, adventure stories
and the Book Nook has autobiographies of Lottie
Moon, and David Livingstone, among others. Lottie
Moon spent her life teaching in China, while David
Livingstone spent 30 years in Central Africa.
The Book Nook has a new book for the younger child
called, “The Story Bible”. It tells over 130 stories of
God’s love, and is beautifully illustrated.
Let you children come by and browse for an exciting
tale and take time to find a good book for yourself as
well.

DID YOU KNOW
TRIALS AND TRIBULATION ARE GUARANTEED TO HAPPEN.
Just setting here thinking about some of the trials I
have gone through. Thank about some of the trials
you have gone through, did you count it all joy, did
you have faith that produced patience, and did you
let patience have its perfect work.
James chapter 1: 2-4 2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into vari-
ous (DIFFERENT TYPE) of trials, 3 knowing that the
testing of your faith produces patience. (Endurance
or perseverance) 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you
may be perfect (mature) and complete, lacking noth-
ing.
You notice he did not say if you fall into various tri-
als, he said “when”.
Trials are a guaranteed. However, it is so important
to know, when we go through our trials we are not
along. This is where our faith comes in, the testing
of your faith produce patience believing without a
doubt the Lord can bring you through if it’s his will.
This is also the time to say “Lord” what is it you want
me to learn from this trial. If we allow God to do his
work it will produce patience.
What about you what or some of your trials and how
did you deal with them?
There are members here at the church that have
share with me how they have gone through trials
and had it not been for the Lord, they don’t know
where they would be, or what they would have done.
There are some trials we cause our self; and some
are cause by others.
Next month we will look at trials from some of the
characters in the bible and how they dealt with
them.

Teachers Appreciation Luncheon
“The one who is taught the word is to share all good things with the one who teaches him.” (Galatians 6:6)
This summer has been packed with lots of ministry opportunities. At our recent Missions Report we celebrated missions in our state, country, and world while also highlighting opportunities to serve in our local Jerusalem. Over the past 2 weeks we’ve hosted Vacation Bible School (at which hundreds of children and their families learned about the Bible and heard the gospel), and we’ve sponsored the 5th annual Clovis Housing Block Party (where over 60 children and their families were blessed with food, fun, and backpacks, as well as hearing how to have a personal faith relationship with Jesus). It’s been an amazing last 2 weeks but perhaps the most exciting thing is there’s still more opportunities to serve our community!
We communicate the gospel of Jesus not only verbally but also by sharing his love with others through acts of service. The above verse speaks directly to showing appreciation for those who have had an investment in our spiritual upbringing, whether that be pastors, Bible teachers, parents, grandparents, etc. This principle of giving thanks also applies to others who make a positive investment in our lives. And who more deserving of recognition than our teachers?
Think about it, where would we be without our teachers? Our skills, abilities, confidence stem from countless teachers spending countless hours, days and years guiding us to be capable adults who can become employed and contribute to society. Not only have they been a blessing to us but to our children as well. We trust them with our children for 7 hours a day, 5 days a week, 9 months a year, for 12 or more years. Our educators, administrators, and school staff are there for us to not only watch and protect our children but also to help them learn the skills necessary to become capable adults and productive citizens. Educators and school staff serve as guides, counselors, encouragers, and cheerleaders helping our children have the confidence and ability to work through the challenges they face. For this, we say Thank You to all our school staff!
A great way to show our thanks is by helping out with our annual Teachers Appreciation Luncheon, scheduled this year on Friday, August 12 from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm. You can help by being involved in setup, tear down, decorating, serving food, greeting, etc. Signups are available at church.
Another opportunity to share the love of Jesus with our local community is through our annual County Fair shade tent ministry. It’s no secret to anyone that we’ve had a HOT summer. The reality of triple digit days has been common and has left many of us scrambling to find some way to cool off. The easiest way to do this is to get out of the heat and in the shade. This is what motivates our shade tent ministry. Every year thousands of people come through the county fair, at the hottest time of the summer. For the past several years our church has put up 3 huge tents and picnic tables for people to sit under and eat their food. It’s a real blessing to all sit under its shade. We also serve by wiping down the tables so folks will have a clean place to eat. This provides a great opportunity to have conversations with the fair patrons, talking about the church, faith, life and building relationships. This year we will serve under the tents Tue, Aug 16 through Sat, Aug 20 from 4:00-10:00 pm each night. We have signups for 2 hour shifts for each day. Also, we will setup the tents on Sun, Aug 14 at 5:00 pm*.
As the summer winds down, our opportunities to serve others continues. Please join us as we impact our local communities with the gospel and love of Jesus!
