The funding programme coverscurrently nine projects in Asia,Africa and Latin America. Theresearch is conducted by inter­and transdisciplinary teams inreference to model cities andmodel regions. Thereby Germanconsortia cooperate withcorresponding teams in thepartner countries. Since the beginning of the mainphase (2008) the programfocuses on energy­ and climateefficiency in urban growthcentres. Read more

conference brought togetherglobal actors, experts anddedicated urbanists in politics,academia, civil society andbusiness to 

discuss the pressingneeds of cities

learn aboutinnovative solutionsand

reflect on new waysfor implementing andupscaling knowledgeand capacities.

The diverse programme includedpresentations, discussions andthematic workshops. The eventalso offered variousopportunities to meet andexchange ideas with some 350international experts. A marketplace provided insights intomodel solutions, products andtangible results from differenturban contexts, while speciallycommissioned short filmscompleted the programme.Additionally excursions toinspiring pilot projects in the Cityof Hamburg were carried out. Future Megacities in Action
