Your Class: A Systematic Approach to Technology Integration Workshop: Teaching and Learning Strategies Amy Ackley BIO: Amy Ackley is a 15-year professional educator with her M. Ed. in Curriculum, Instruction, & Innovation. Amy successfully transformed her classroom to an innovative environment, integrating effective instruction with blended and personalized learning. She is co-author of the DOCEO Framework & H.A.C.K. Model of Innovative Instruction. Now working with the NNU Doceō Center, Amy provides professional development implementing innovation instruction in districts, schools, and classrooms. DESCRIPTION: This intensive workshop is designed to immerse and equip educators with a dynamic toolkit to blend, flip, and personalize instruction using innovative practices. Based around the H.A.C.K. Model of Innovative Instruction, this session systematically guides teachers through the process of technology integration. Our Model will transform a classroom from a highly-structured environment to a more student-centered approach to learning where students take ownership and personalize their education. DESCRIPTION: Gamification is the process of applying game mechanics and principles into other situations, such as the classroom. This recent and fairly controversial teaching strategy has many manifestations and possibilities. There are also a myriad of practical benefits and genuine concerns. In this session we will review the research behind gamification, look at practical applications of the strategy, and give the audience an opportunity to try their hand at gamifying a lesson, a unit, or a whole classroom.
