FT550 VIBROCORER

The 3rd generation FT550 lightweight variable frequency high power vibrocorer leads the market in its technical innovation and performance. The subsea equipment is built to withstand the harsh offshore environment and unforgiving handling. The topside software informs the engineer of the information he needs to ensure efficient, successful and safe deployment and operation. Due to its simple to assemble modular construction the system can be mobilised rapidly for cores of 1 to 12m.

Variable frequency and thrust Feritech Global’s vibrocorer is the only system on the market with an integrated high power varible frequency system. By using this unique variable frequency system, sample disturbance is minimised, ensuring a high quality sample regardless of high power settings.

Quick release barrel system

Our quick release barrel system ensures a fast barrel change optimising operational equipment time. A barrel can be changed in a matter of minutes, whether the system is being deployed in horizontal or vertical mode.

Easy to transport

With its modular construction, the entire FT550 system and spares can easily be packed into a standard 20 foot ISO shipping container.

Proven substrate penetration

The FT550 has a proven track record of quickly penetrating consolidated sediments. The variable frequency has been used time and time again to acquire high quality core samples from stiff clays, compacted sands, to sites with chalk and gravel.

Barrel penetration monitoring

Allows for the maximisation of operational time. Real time monitoring for obtaining required depth or refusal feedback, plus, the rate of penetration.

Heat flow probe module

By adding heat flow capabilities, our vibrocorer system has maximum flexibility, and can be used as part of our integrated HUB system.

Heat flow probe


System depthThe vibrocorer has an integrated depth sensor that accurately recirds and displays the distance it is from the sea surface. The depth sensors are plug and play and are user changeable for different depths as required.

Altitude and settlementThe altitude and settlement sensor reports the altitude of the system as it approaches the seabed and once on the seabed constantly monitors and records any settlement of the system into the sea floor. By monitoring the settlement it is possible to accurately position the recovered core to ensure the core record is referenced to the correct datum.

Frame inclinationInclination is displayed on the topside controller to ensure the frame has landed safely. This ensures the sea floor gradient is acceptable and safe for the equipment to operate on.

Motor currentWhen coring the real time motor current is displayed within the control software and is also recorded within the log file offering further feedback from the system.

System statistics and healthSystem voltages, umbilical data quality and equipment statistics are constantly monitored and any anomalies are automatically reported back to the engineer in real time to aid in setup and troubleshooting.

magCORE module


magCORE module

The magCORE adds the ability to see oncoming ferro-magnetic obstructions within the ground. Thtis has many uses from UXO (unexploded ordnance) detection to measuring the depth of sheet piling or other metallic foundations.

The sensors measure in 3 dimensions and so can detect a target both in front of and to the side of the barrel.

Topside controller

The topside controller shows the engineer the information he needs to ensure an efficient, successful and safe deployment and operation.

The rugged topscreen unit displaying and logging real time data from the system for the user, including:

• Penetration distance and rate

• Depth sensor

• Inclination

• Settlement into seabed

• Altitude from seabed

• Frequency and power

Heat flow probe module

The FT580 heat flow probe system adds heat flow capabilities to the vibrocorer system. Up to 60 heat flow sensors can be installed on the thermal system interface unit.

The control and analysis software is fully integrated into the Feritech Global HUB software, this means that our vibrocorer, CPT, heat flow and winch products are all controlled from the same intuitive interface.
