GTo produce the sound:

● The tongue tip should be resting behind the lower front teeth and when the sound is produced the back of the tongue raises up

Tips to help with sound production:● Use a mirror- this allows the child to see what’s happening in the mouth

● Have the child lean his/her head back or lie down on his/her back on the

floor so that the tongue naturally slides to the back of his/her mouth.

● Have your child practice gargling water. When gargling the tongue is in the same position that it needs to be in to correctly produce the /g/ sound/.

● Use a pretzel rod, popsicle stick, or small lollipop to gently hold the front of your child’s tongue down while she tries to produce the /g/ sound.

● Use gestural/visual cues- Point to the throat to show that the sound comes from the back of the mouth.
