Galatians 5:22 - 23 NLT

22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

LOVELOVE

•Agape is an undefeatable benevolence and unconquerable goodwill that always seeks the highest of others, no matter what he does.

•Agape is more a love by choice than philos, which is love by chance; and it refers to the will rather than the emotion.

Page 9: Fruit of the spirit

LOVELOVE

•Agape describes the unconditional love God has for the world.

•Apostle Paul gives an in-depth description of agape love in 1 Corinthians 13.

JOYJOY

•The Greek word for joy, chara, is derived from the Greek word charis, which means ‘grace.’

•Chara (joy) is produced by the grace of God.

•It is not human-based happiness which can come and go.

Page 13: Fruit of the spirit

JOYJOY

•True ‘joy’ is divine in its origin.

•It is a Spirit-given expression which is at its best during hard times.

•1 Thessalonians 1:6 NLT

“So you received the message with joy from the Holy Spirit in spite of the severe suffering it brought you. In this way, you imitated both us and the Lord.”
