Everyone is Sacred’

29th March 2018

If we all do our own jobs, then we will make the body of Jesus work properly’.

A letter of St. Paul’s.

Dear Parents and Carers,

It is unusual to break up on Maunday Thursday, a day when we reflect on Jesus, the disciples and the Last Supper. Year Six have been working

with the Parish Prayer Group to reflect on the Stations of the Cross. Many of the classes have also visited the Church to look at the

Easter garden.

This week many classes have been having end of theme learning experiences. Year 5 held their World War 2 day, Year three re-enacted the Roman Baths and Years One, Reception and Foundation held open afternoons for parents. It was lovely to welcome so many of you into school.

Last evening I went to the Riviera Centre to watch 54 of our children perform as part of the Torbay Performing Arts Festival. Our dance club performed their elegant Bollywood inspired dance and the Choir once again sang so beautifully. Huge thanks to Mrs. Cully, Mrs. Gridley and Mrs. Jerratt for all the time given so willingly to our children.

Our newly formed netball team are going from strength to strength. They recently all received a medal as runners up in the Torbay Schools Hi-5 Netball Plate Competition. A special thank you to Mrs Garside and Mrs. Dunstone. The children have really engaged with this new club. Through the breadth of our after-school clubs the children have many opportunities. Mrs. Codd is working hard on proposals for a school after school provision. The feedback on the parent questionaires was very favourable and so we hope to have more news soon after Easter.

This afternoon Mr. Powell and Mr. Allen-Wicks organised our Easter Bonnet Parade on behalf of FOSH. A huge thank you to all the children who took part in the parade and made such a wonderful effort with their bonnets. FOSH work tirelessly behind the scenes to provide those extras for our children and we are grateful to

all helpers and our wonderful organiser, Mrs. Sutton. The FOSH disco will be after school to-day.

Well done to Rio and Madison Lovegrove in Year 6, as part of their Civic Award fund raising for the British Heart Foundation, they organised today’s red day and have raised. over £150. An excellent effort on their part.

A sincere thank you from us all for your Easter wishes and gifts. They are truly appreciated. We wish you and your families a peaceful and joyous Easter holiday and look forward to seeing you all on Monday 16th April.

Best wishes,

Helen Brown

The Easter Story by Antonia Jackson

From the entry of Jesus and his disciples into the temple in Jerusalem, The Easter

story, as told in the Bible, is retold in simple prose matched with atmospheric

illustrations. How the different disciples, most notably Judas and Peter, behave

when Jesus is arrested, the trial of Jesus first by Pontias Pilate and then by the crowd, the

crucifixion and the resurrection after the death of Jesus are recounted in a clear narrative that

concentrates on the story and presents it as true.

Happy Easter, Pout-Pout Fish by Deborah Diesen

This short and sweet mini-adventure was created to introduce the

youngest guppies to the popular Pout-Pout Fish. Swim along with Mr.

Fish and his friends as they try to find all of the colorful eggs during

the Easter Egg Hunt.

OUR FAMILY SUPPORT

WORKER

Hi my name is Mrs Louise Loram; I’m your friendly Family Support Worker at your child’s school.

I have supported families and children for the past 20 years and throughout this time have supported families with a range of issues, concerns and challenges. Being a mum myself I understand that parenting is probably the hardest job in the world, and sometimes we all could do with a little support to steer us in the right direction.

I am here to support you with any aspect of family life which is concerning you and your children at the moment. I don’t claim to have all the answers but I have a lot of knowledge, experience and contacts within agencies and organisations I can signpost you to if need be.

My support will mostly be done through home visits; however, I will also be attending groups within school so you can access me freely.

I will be holding a 'drop in' service between 8.45am and 11am. The next session will be on Tuesday 17th April 2018. This will be held in the side room off the church hall. Please come to the school office if you have any questions. There’s a possibility that other groups may start up, so watch this space! If there is any aspect that you would like me to contact you about, let Mrs Nott or the school office know and they will put me in touch with you.

Sometimes a worry shared is a worry halved!
