I would like to thank the staff, students and parents for the warm welcome I have received as Relieving Principal at Lake Munmorah Public School. I have met many of the students and their smiling friendly faces and welcoming words have made my first week at the school very special. The students look very smart in the school uniform and I noticed they wear them with pride. I also met the Student Leadership Team of Brandy, Cooper, Lauren, Joshua, Brooklyn, Ben, Anna & Lochlan and was impressed by their maturity and confidence. I look forward to working with them throughout the year. I warmly welcome the Kindergarten students who begin their school careers today. The Kindergarten teachers are excited about getting the year underway with our newest students. I know they will settle quickly into this wonderful supportive school. New Staff for 2018 I welcome to the school: Lisa Brookes – Instructional Leader Lauren Fernando – Assistant Principal – Early Stage 1 These highly experienced teachers are an outstanding addition to the dedicated staff here at Lake Munmorah Public School Meet and Greet Sessions Meeting the teachers and getting a feel for the classroom and the year ahead is important for us to share with parents. Message From Busways

School Opal Card

An important requirement of School Opal is the need for students to Tap On and Tap Off when they travel to and from school.

Opal data gathered by tapping on and off is used to determine demand for bus services.

If students don’t Tap on and Tap off, services may be cancelled or reduced due to the lack of recorded patronage. With this in mind, we again ask for your assistance in reminding your students that tapping on and off at the beginning and end of each trip is one of the conditions of using a School Opal card. This in turn helps us ensure we are able to provide the appropriate level of service to your students.

To assist the schools, Busways is developing a campaign to further promote and encourage the use of School Opal. We will also continue to conduct boarding checks on School Opal cards over the coming months. Students without an Opal Card will be given a brochure to take home identifying how they can get an Opal Card.

Please support Busways staff with afternoon boardings and checks to ensure minimal delays to bus departure times and demonstrate a united front to students on bus travel and Opal Card use.

The Got It! Team will be holding an information stall at Lake Munmorah Public School on Monday the 5

th

of February 8:30-9:00am and Tuesday 13th February

3:15-4:00pm. Staff will be available to answer any questions you may have about the screening tools currently being collected in years K-2 and the upcoming program in your school. What is the Got It! Program?

Children may display disruptive behaviours as a normal part of development. When disruptive behaviours occur regularly they can negatively influence children’s academic, emotional and social development. Working with parents, carers, teachers and children to develop a consistent approach at home and school will help to create positive and sustained changes. Getting on Track in Time – Got It! is an early intervention program for children in

K-2 and their parents and carers. The program helps parents and schools to

identify children’s social and emotional difficulties and supports them to respond to

disruptive behaviours.
