Headteacher’s Message It has been a busy and enjoyable Spring first half term. Our pupils have enjoyed a wide range of learning experiences and we continue to ensure they have a broad and stimulating curriculum. I would like to thank all the parents for your continued support and for upholding your responsibilities with our a home-school agreement. A copy is attached to this flyer. I would also like to thank all our Helping Hands group for the many ways you are supporting our school. Please remember all parents are automatically members of Helping Hands and there are many ways you can support your school. Mr Newson will be doing an article soon to remind you of all the ways you can help. I would like to wish all our staff, pupils and families a very happy half term. Karen Khwaja Headteacher
GREEK DAY
As a finale to our topic on ancient Greece, Year 4 had a lovely time going Greek last Thursday. We explored what life would be like if you were a wealthy Greek. We practised our Greek themed assemblies and to top it all we had a lovely Greek feast consisting of olives, hummus, tzatziki, grapes and pitta bread, all washed down with some pretend wine (blackcurrant juice).
σας ευχαριστώ Ms Siddique Fuchsia Class Teacher
Half-Term Dates
17th February-21st February
Year 1 Trip to Belmont Farm
On Tuesday 11th February, Year 1 children had an exciting visit to Belmont Farm. We travelled there by bus. They saw different types of farm animals and had an experience of petting and feeding them in small groups. We all had a wonderful day out and enjoyed learning about the animals. We were very proud of the children’s behaviour. Well done Year 1. Ms Shrestha Year 1 Teacher
LUNCH TIME MATHS CLUB
Every Tuesday and Thursday, as KS2 Maths Support Leader, I will be holding a lunch time club (invitation only) to further develop our times tables skills. Every week I will be giving you a maths puzzle to work out at home. See if you can solve the answer. This week’s riddle: When Omar was 6 years old his little sister, Sara, was half his age. If Omar is 40 years old today, how old is Sara today? (Check your answer on the next page.)
Ms Siddique KS2 Maths Support Leader

A disappointing week for attendance. I know there are a lot of illnesses going around. Please ensure your child is fully recovered before returning to school. Flamingo Class Assembly Flamingo Class gave a 'howling' performance last Friday. The children started with a rendition of "Mad Moon" which they will be performing next month as part of the Sound Out Schools Concert organised by the London Sinfonietta. They concluded with a tongue-in-cheek song "It's all Greek to Me!". The assembly brought to life the Greek myth of Pandora's box and how hope came into the world. Thank you to parents and carers who helped the children with their lines and to Ms Siefert for her continuous support. Mrs Hinks Y4 Teacher

YEAR 3 TRIP TO BUDDHIST CENTRE On Thursday 6th February, Year 3 children visited the Bethnal Green Buddhist Centre. It was an enlightening and informative trip and the children learned more about Buddhism, Prince Siddhartha and meditation. Our instructor Hannah led us into a beautiful shrine room which contained an amazing, golden Buddha statue. We sat on cushions, listened to singing bowls and left feeling calm and serene. It was a very successful trip! Many thanks to the parents who accompanied our trip and helped to make the day so enjoyable. Mrs Walton Marigold Class Teacher
