BRUCE HORNSBY & THE NOISEMAKERS

Date: Wednesday, July 2nd @ 8pmAdmission: $25 - $60 • All agesSeating: Provided & Assigned

Twenty five years after winning a Best New Artist Grammy and launching one of contemporary music’s most diverse and collaborative careers, Bruce Hornsby is still, blissfully, making joyful noise—and finding clever, expansive ways to chronicle the dynamic musical snapshots along the journey. Now comes the release of Bride Of The Noisemakers--an ambitious 25 track, double CD chronicling 2007-2009 live performances of some of the singer/songwriter and pianist’s hand-picked songs of the past 20 years. The songs are recorded live capturing the playful, freewheeling spirit and unique chemistry of his longtime band The Noisemakers.

He has played on over 100 records over the years, including albums by Bob Dylan, Don Henley, the Grateful Dead, Bob Seger, Crosby Stills and Nash, Stevie Nicks, Cowboy Junkies, Squeeze, Liquid Jesus, Bonnie Raitt (piano on the classic “I Can’t Make You Love Me”), Shawn Colvin, Bela Fleck, Clint Black, Ricky Skaggs, Randy Scruggs, and Willie Nelson.

“I can be a slow learner, and sometimes it takes me a while to arrive at the most soulful way to play and sing one of my songs, or anyone’s song for that matter. Our approach to playing allows songs to grow, evolve and change through the years, and this second live album documents where that improvisatory mindset has led us up to this point.”

3 time Grammy Award Winner

Lead singer, Kelsey Rae, first appeared on Broadway as Annie in the Tony Award winning musical.

THE HIT MEN

Date: Saturday, July 5th @ 7pmAdmission: $25 • All agesSeating: BYOC

The 60’s, 70’s and 80’s were a golden era for songwriting and during that period acts like Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, Tommy James and The Shondells, and other big name chart-busting groups created beloved hits that have been heard for generations and are woven into America’s consciousness. Now, after decades behind the scenes, some of the greatest artists who were instrumental in the success of these fabulous songs have reunited to form THE HIT MEN. Not Broadway actors, or a tribute band, these guys are the real performers who traveled all over the world, creating music and memories---from Madison Square Garden to the London Palladium.

On the road touring as THE HIT MEN, this brotherhood of musicians relive the magic they created on world stages and in recording studios years ago, bringing audiences a night of mega-hit after mega-hit, after mega-hit -- including everyone’s favorite Four Seasons songs like “Oh What a Night”, “Who Loves You”, “Marianne”, “Big Girls Don’t Cry”, and “Rag Doll.” They also perform many other memorable solid gold hits that they helped make famous – including “Mony, Mony”, “Hanky Panky”, and “You’re So Vain.”

During their performance, THE HIT MEN also share great back stories and anecdotes from their days in recording studios and on the concert circuit; it’s a great look back through rock & roll history from the guys who lived and breathed the experience.

AARON NEVILLE DUO

Date: Friday, July 11th @ 8pmAdmission: $25 - $45 • All agesSeating: Provided & Assigned

“These songs helped to mold me into who I am,” says Aaron Neville. “They’re all dear to my heart, and they rode with me, in my bones, through all these years.”

With MY TRUE STORY, one of the world’s finest singers is revisiting the music he grew up with, and adding a few new spins along the way. Neville’s first release for Blue Note Records is a collection of twelve classic doo-wop numbers, performed in his utterly inimitable vocal style, and co-produced by Blue Note President Don Was and Keith Richards. The selections on the album include classics by such vocal-group giants as Little Anthony and the Imperials (“Tears on My Pillow”), Hank Ballard and the Midnighters (“Work With Me, Annie”), and the Drifters (“Money Honey,” “Under the Boardwalk,” “This Magic Moment”). Yet the recordings on MY TRUE STORY aren’t simply imitations of the original sessions. For one thing, some of the songs included—like the Ronettes’ “Be My Baby” or “Gypsy Woman” by the Impressions—come from a slightly later time period than the classic doo-wop era, and aren’t usually classified as part of the genre.

“It’s definitely extra-meaningful,” he says. “I have a new life, I’m singing to my wife Sarah. I think God knew I wanted to do it and he waited for the right moment. He made the stars align, and he said, ‘Aaron, it’s time for you to do some doo-wop.’”

BIG BAD VOODOO DADDY

Date: Saturday, July 12th @ 7pmAdmission: $20 for adults • Kids are freeSeating: BYOC

2013 marked the 20th Anniversary of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s remarkable arrival onto the music scene. In it’s first years, having secured their legendary residency at the Derby nightclub in Los Angeles, they reminded the world—in the middle of the grunge era, no less—that it was still cool to swing, big band style. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy hit pop music superstardom with their appearance in front of millions during the halftime show of the 1999 Super Bowl, while their 2003 New Orleans inspired album, Save My Soul, shifted focus to playing theaters, performing arts centers, and large outdoor venues to selling out shows at the Hollywood Bowl, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Lincoln Center, Chastain Park and Constitution Hall, to name just a few. The band often plays more than 150 shows a year and has appeared as special guests with many of the great American symphony orchestras.

While Big Bad Voodoo Daddy has sold millions of albums, the stage has always been the band’s first home. “We make records because we have to, but play live because we love to,” says Morris. Americana Deluxe was really the first album to capture what we were doing live and we strive to capture the energy and excitement of the live show in all our recordings. It’s amazing how the chemistry in this band still works after so many years. Whether on stage or traveling down the road on the bus, everyone is hanging out together, laughing and enjoying being part of such a remarkable enterprise and enduring friendship — one that is so rare in this business.”

WYNTON MARSALIS

Date: Saturday, July 19th @ 8pmAdmission: $45 - $75 • All agesSeating: Assigned & Provided

Hailed as “an extraordinarily versatile orchestra” by The Los Angeles Times, the JAZZ AT LINCOLN CENTER ORCHESTRA is composed of 15 of jazz music’s leading soloists under the leadership of musical director Wynton Marsalis. Drawing from an extensive repertoire that includes original compositions by Mr. Marsalis, Ted Nash, and other members of the orchestra, as well as the masterworks of Ellington, Mingus, Coltrane, and other great jazz composers, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis concerts are internationally critically-acclaimed. “The finest big band in the world today,” said the Daily Telegraph, UK.

Over the last few years, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra has performed collaborations with many of the world’s leading symphony orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Russian National Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Boston, Chicago and London Symphony Orchestras, the Orchestra Esperimentale in São Paolo, Brazil and others. In 2006, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra collaborated with Ghanaian drum collective Odadaa!, led by Yacub Addy, to perform “Congo Square,” a composition Mr. Marsalis and Mr. Addy co-wrote and dedicated to Mr. Marsalis’ native New Orleans.

THE BARENAKED LADIES

Date: Wednesday, July 23rd @ 8pmAdmission: $25 - $65 • All agesSeating: Assigned & Provided

Among the truths we hold to be self-evident are these: Canadian bands can play their butts off, and they can also bring the funny. No outfit hailing from north of the border embodies these paired virtues more engagingly than the Barenaked Ladies, whose fusion of hooks and yuks has resulted in more than 14 million albums sold, as well as putting myriad fannies in the seats of concert halls and amphitheaters around the world.

On the occasion of the band’s 25th anniversary, BNL -- Ed Robertson (guitar/vocals), Jim Creeggan (bass/vocals), Kevin Hearn (keyboard/guitar/vocals) and Tyler Stewart (drums/vocals) -- are celebrating with new album GRINNING STREAK. The album, the band’s twelfth, is their first in partnership with Vanguard Records after self-releasing their last four efforts. The album picks up steam via its hyper-hooky 1st single “Boomerang,” produced by Gavin Brown, who handled 11 of GRINNING STREAK’s 15 tracks. Indeed, the whole of GRINNING STREAK unfolds with the signature blend of immediacy, tunefulness and witty sophistication that made such BNL hits as “Pinch Me, “Brian Wilson,” “If I Had $1,000,000” and the chart-topping “One Week” modern-day classics.

“We built our career playing summer outdoor shows,” Robertson points out. “Let’s enjoy ourselves. Let’s live like it is the last summer on earth. Let’s party like it’s 1999.”

DAVE MASON’S TRAFFIC JAM

Date: Friday, July 25th @ 7pmAdmission: $20 - $45 • All agesSeating: Assigned & Provided

Dave Mason is a living rock legend. At age 18, the Worcester England native teamed up with Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi and Chris Wood to form the legendary band Traffic, who had a profound affect on the genre of rock and roll. While still a teen Mason penned the Traffic hit “Feelin’ Alright”. After extensive touring with Traffic throughout the UK and Europe, Mason headed for the USA to pursue a solo career. He struck international gold with his debut album “Alone Together”, which is considered a seminal rock classic.

In addition to performing to sold-out audiences and being a permanent staple in record collections and hearts of fans around the world, Mason’s unique guitar work can be heard on many landmark albums and songs such as the Rolling Stones’ Beggar’s Banquet, George Harrison’s All Things Must Pass, Paul McCartney’s Listen To What The Man Said and Jimi Hendrix’s Electric Ladyland. Hendrix’s major rock standard “All Along The Watchtower” features Dave playing the acoustic guitars before Hendrix’s soaring entrance onto the track. Dave Mason’s career spans several important rock eras, and encompasses his work as a producer, performer, songwriter, and consummate guitarist. In 2004, Mason was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his work with the groundbreaking group Traffic.

THE BEACH BOYS

Date: Sunday, July 27th @ 8pmAdmission: $40 - $70 • All agesSeating: Assigned & Provided

You can capsulize most pop music acts by reciting how many hits they’ve had and how many millions of albums they’ve sold. But these conventional measurements fall short when you’re assessing the impact of The Beach Boys. To be sure, this band has birthed a torrent of hit singles and sold albums by the tens of millions. But its greater significance lies in the fact that it changed the musical landscape so profoundly that every pop act since has been in its debt. Happily for us all, The Beach Boys continue to create and perform with the same bold imagination and style that marked their explosive debut over 50 years ago.

Few, if any, acts can match The Beach Boys’ concert presence, spirit and performance. They were center-stage at Live Aid, multiple Farm Aids, the Statue of Liberty’s 100th Anniversary Salute, the Super Bowl and the White House. On one day alone—July 4, 1985—they played to nearly 2 million fans at shows in Philadelphia and Washington, D. C.

The Beach Boys are led by Mike Love and Bruce Johnston, who along with Christian Love, Randell Kirsch, Tim Bonhomme, John Cowsill and Scott Totten continue the legacy of the iconic American band. This tour will not feature Brian Wilson, Al Jardine or David Marks.

FIREFALL

Date: Friday, August 8th @ 7pmAdmission: $20 for adults • Kids are freeSeating: BYOC

The genealogy and musical roots of Firefall run deep in the fertile soil of American folk/rock music. Along with contemporaries like Crosby, Stills and Nash, The Band, The Eagles and Loggins and Messina, they created a sound that defined a generation and forever changed the musical landscape. Defying industry labels, they creatively melded country, folk, easy listening and rock ’n roll to create a sound that was uniquely their own. Firefall is one of the few surviving bands of this genre, remaining true to the founding vision throughout the bands’ 30 year history.

From 1976 through the 1980’s, Firefall saturated the radio waves with a string of Top 20 hits, selling millions of albums and earning two platinum and three gold records for their efforts. They toured the world over, sharing stages with supergroups like Fleetwood Mac, The Band, The Doobie Brothers, Marshall Tucker, The Beach Boys and America, to name a few. Their dynamic and dazzling live performances gained them a huge and loyal fan base; one that continues to grow even now. In the current live shows, the band continues to expand on their distinctive and melodic sound. Their much loved hits are faithfully recreated with a freshness rare in live performance of such classics. In keeping with the times, the shows often include acoustic “mini sets” and extended jams, which speak directly to the ever growing new generation of fans.

JENNIFER NETTLES

Date: Saturday, August 9th @ 8pmAdmission: $50 - $135 • All agesSeating: Assigned & Provided

Nettles has won five ASCAP awards for her songwriting abilities, and in 2008 individually received a Grammy Award, ACM Award and CMA Award for penning the emotionally charged, platinum-selling No. 1 hit “Stay.”

At the 2009 ACM Awards, Nettles was honored with the “Crystal Milestone Award” for being the first woman to be the solo songwriter on an ACM “Song of the Year” winner since 1972. Her fans have grown to expect Nettles to deliver memorable, heartfelt performances both individually and with surprise duet partners: At the 2007 AMAs, Beyonce joined Sugarland on stage for a countrified version of her hit single “Irreplaceable.” Two years later, at The Kennedy Center Honors, Nettles paid tribute to icon Bruce Springsteen, covering “Glory Days” and “I’m On Fire” with Ben Harper. DAVID NAIL

Date: Wednesday, August 13th @ 8pmAdmission: $20 • All agesSeating: BYOC

Since his debut in 2009, David Nail has made a career of singing songs that few artists dare touch in contemporary country music: sad songs. He has had hits with singles about cheating (“Let It Rain”), breakups (“Red Light”) and failed dreams (“Turning Home”) and he has owned every one, singing as if from personal experience.

Now, David has taken a refreshed mindset and used it to shape his trail-blazing third album. If 2009’s I’m About to Come Alive was a snapshot of David grasping for the stars and The Sound of a Million Dreams captured him struggling with success, then this new album, I’m a Fire, reflects an artist in control of his craft, a man fulfilled. It’s very much a guitar record with, naturally for David, an emphasis on vocals. The ACM Award-nominated singer’s voice is without peer.

Like much of I’m a Fire, produced by David’s faithful collaborator Frank Liddell, the inclusion of Glen Cambell’s “Galveston” was born out of spontaneity. “It was very spur of the moment,” David says. “While it was important to me to pay respect to the song, I wanted to do it how I would do it.”

“There’s so many moments on this record that make me think about the last four years that I’ve been married, and the track ‘I’m a Fire’ just sums it all up,” David says. “It says, ‘I’ve walked through flames, come out on the other end, and the foremost reason is because of you.’”

More than 12,500 audience members are said to have been whisked away with a sense of whimsy by Parallel Exit productions. In addition, over 10,000 New York City public school students have been inspired and benefited by Parallel Exit education programs, which employ the performing arts as a means through which to instill both creative and life skills.
