How to Calm Pre-Wedding JittersYou've been planning this day since he proposed. Well, to be honest, you've probably been planning this day since the first time you put a wedding dress on a Barbie and walked her down the aisle to Ken.

You want your wedding day to be perfect...and you're so afraid that something will go wrong. With each day that passes, you're more convinced of it.

Everyone tells you to calm down. But no one tells you how, until now.

1) Prepare.

If you haven't already, get a loose-leaf binder, lots of lined paper, and several sets of dividers. Make a list of each category of your wedding plans--place, flowers, invitees, reception, etc. Label a divider for each category.

2) Delegate.

If a professional wedding planner is not in your budget, select a friend or relative who’s dependable and organized. Sit down together and brainstorm ideas. Then make a timeline and set up your binder.

3) Divide and Conquer.

Brainstorm each of your categories. Make a list with dates when they need to be finished. Break each category down into smaller and smaller steps until you have tasks that can be easily accomplished.

4) Count down. Don't break down.

Once you have a timeline with all the steps for each category, don't keep worrying about the big picture. Each day, do that day’s tasks. At the end of the day review what’s been accomplished, look at your overall timeline, and outline the tasks for the next day.

1. Get An Accurate Guest Count.

Before you begin to plan seating, you have to know how many guests will be attending. This will enable you to arrange for the correct number of tables and chairs and also be able to plan for an adequate amount of food. One of the ways to keep your guests happy is to seat families together whenever possible. Seat couples who know each other together. Co-workers can be seated together at another table. Be sure to avoid putting elderly guests near speakers or other noisy areas. Friends of the bride can be seated at one table and friends of the groom at another, unless of course they know each other and have things in common. Try to seat people together with others who have similar interests.

3. Who Sits Where?

The bridal table is typically for the bride and groom and the wedding party. It is usually the focal point of the room. The family table is traditionally for the parents of the bride and groom and can include grandparents, the pastor who officiated at the ceremony and other

4. Get A Floor Plan.

Before you create your seating plan, you might want to get the floor plan of your reception area and make several copies. This way you can try several different arrangements before deciding on your final seating plan.

5. Plan Ahead.

It is always good to avoid last minute stress by planning for the ‘known unknowns’! Just be aware that you may very well have late additions and plan accordingly.

Once you have your seating plan finalized, it’s time to let guests know where you have them seated. Use a seating chart that is arrangedalphabetically, in a nice frame, placed near the entrance to thereception. This will tell your guests which table number they are seated at. Use place cards at each table to identify the table number. Guests can then choose their own chair at their assigned table. They are then free to mingle after dinner. If you prefer to assign seats, just use a place card with the guest’s name at each place to identify who sits where.

Getting Organized for Your HoneymoonPerhaps you prefer to leave all the honeymoon planning to your fiancée while you focus on the wedding. Perhaps you prefer to be involved in every aspect of planning the honeymoon. You might want to be involved in part, but not all, of the process.

Visit the website of every photographer on your list. Focus on the photos they have on their website--not of the website itself. Good photographers will have lots of examples of their work, including full weddings. This will help you to pre-qualify a list of candidates.

3. Interview

Call or email each photographer on your list. A quick phone call or email can give you numerous pieces of important information, such as availability on your wedding date, type of photography specialties such as candid, posed, digital, video, etc., a rough estimate of costs and a little bit about the photographer’s personality.

The more questions you ask, the better you'll feel about your decision. Write down all of your questions and ask away. If the photographer dismisses your questions or doesn't answer them to your satisfaction, dismiss that photographer. They won't have your best interests at heart.

6. Understand the contract

Do you understand the contract? Is it fair? Is everything spelled out? Only what is written counts, not what was promised. Read the whole contract and make sure it spells out, in writing, everything youunderstood it would say. Don't sign until you are completely satisfied with the contract.

Hiring a DJ for Your Wedding

1) Make a list of questions

Before interviewing prospective DJs, make a list of questions. Some of your questions might include:

--Is there a written contract?--How long have you been a DJ?--How many weddings have you done?--Do you act as the emcee?--Do you take song requests?--What is the cost?--What will your attire be?--Do you expect us to provide a meal for you and your crew?--etc.

Ask for a list of references from other wedding receptions where this DJ has performed. If the DJ is good, he or she will hand you a list of past customers for you to call.

3) Watch a demo

Ask if there is a demo video that you can witness to see the DJ in action. It is nice to see a person in action and not just go on their words. Some DJs have demos on their web sites or on YouTube.

4) Do an equipment check

You need to make sure the equipment fits the reception venue--both in size and appearance.
