Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe

The Solemnity of our Lord Jesus Christ, the King of the Universe, the Last Sunday of the Liturgical Year,

helps us reflect on how much we served our sisters and brothers in an attempt to make more disciples for

Jesus. It also helps us find better ways and means to do better in the New Liturgical Year beginning on the

First Sunday of Advent.

However, Jesus remains the focus as we participate in his kingly office/ministry by virtue of our baptism. In

every time and place we exercise this ministry by living a life of authentic witness. Having some knowledge

about Jesus does not give us a complete picture of the ministry. We need to know Jesus himself and become

like him.

This Jesus who came to serve and not be served, is the model of ideal kingship we are called to embrace. He

never used his power to oppress anyone, but to give his life as a ransom for many. And more than ever before,

today's Church needs more servant-leaders who animate the faithful than those who wield worldly power to

dominate; those who exercise more life-giving and soul-strengthening power than those that are destructive to

Christian communities.

The Church the Lord has invited us to build entails more than having more people baptized, devoid of the

quality of the Christian followers. It is more than structures, institutions and buildings. It is the Church that is

the Body of Jesus, with human beings as the building blocks laid on the Rock that is St. Peter.

Let us rejoice and be glad for all we did to give honor and praise to our God in the past year, ask for His

forgiveness where we went wrong and request for an abundance of blessings for the New Year.

Fr Grace

Ecumenical Thanksgiving Prayer Service

at 7pm. Please join the various churches in the area as we come together in prayer of thanksgiving at the

Clonmell United Methodist Church, 516 West Broad Street in Gibbstown, New Jersey.

Fr. Dave Grover, Fr. Grace Manano and Fr. Gustavo Agudelo,

Deacon John Colanero, Deacon Joseph Garozzo,

Deacon Kevin Hannon and the staff of St. Clare of Assisi

wish to extend a very

Happy Thanksgiving to all our parishioners.

The Parish Office will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26 and Friday, November 27

Helping Hands Helping Hands is a group of many organizations in

Paulsboro, Gibbstown and surrounding areas providing

compassionate help and service to those in our

communities during the holidays. Four times a year they

provide food and comfort to those who have fallen on

hard times. At this time of year, they are reaching out

with food baskets for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We

are asking for any donations of canned veggies,

cranberry sauce, packages of dry milk, tuna, cereal,

tomato sauce, peanut butter and jelly and of course any

chickens/ turkeys that you may wish to give for the

cause. Monetary donations are always appreciated so

that any shortcomings of food can be purchased. All

monies and food go to the families in need and all

donations are tax-deductible (tax id number provided

upon request).

May God Bless You for All that You Do to Help.

Thank you for the Beautiful Mass of Remembrance on November 2
