1 Performing routine maintenance tasksPurpose
Perform these steps during normal site visits to ensure that the base station staysin good condition.
Steps
1. Check the fans and air circulation.
When needed, clean the fans of leaves and debris and free air inlets andoutlets of obstructions to maintain proper air circulation and prevent overheating of the BTS. Keep the BTS environment clean of dust.
2. Check the connector seals.
Check the connector seals visually. Replace worn or broken seals.
3. Check the cable connectors.
4. Check the screws.
Check the tightness of the module fixing screws. Replace all damaged or missing screws.

2 Replacing module fans
2.1 Replacing module fans from the back
Purpose
If a module fan fails, it must be replaced with a new one. Replacing the fan fromthe back of the module requires a back access and the minimum 200 mmmaintenance space behind the BTS. If there is not enough space for replacing thefans from the back, the fans can also be replaced from the front. See Replacing module fans from the front for more detailed instructions.
Before you start
Warning
Risk of personal injury. Do not touch the rotating fans.
Caution
The modules may be damaged if operated for a long time in the upper ambient temperature range. Replace a faulty unit as soon as possible.

5. Detach the screws and the fan plate from the module core.
6. Remove the fan plate.
7. Install the new fan plate and connect the fan cable.
8. Reinstall the module back cover.
2.2 Replacing module fans from the front
Purpose
If a module fan fails, it must be replaced with a new one. Replacing the fan fromthe back of the module requires a back access and the minimum 200 mmmaintenance space behind the BTS. If the required space is not available, themodules can be replaced from the front of the base station by pulling out themodule core. The module core can be pulled out without dismounting the modulestack.
Before you start
Caution
The modules may be damaged if operated for a long time in the upper ambient temperature range. Replace a faulty unit as soon as possible.
