Flexi WCDMA BTS Optional Items Description

  • 1 Flexi Mounting Kit for Floor, Wall andPole (FMFA) description

Flexi BTS modules are installed on the floor, wall or pole using FlexiMounting kit for Floor, Wall and Pole (FMFA). The FMFA consists of aplinth and adapter mechanics. The plinth is required in BTS siteinstallations without a cabinet and it provides grounding points for BTS andmodule grounding. The mounting principles are the following:

. In floor mounting, the plinth is fixed directly onto the floor. To meetthe Telcordia GR-63-CORE Vibrational requirements for earthquakeZone 4 requirement, the maximum number of modules in a stack isfive (maximum total height 15 U). To meet the Telcordia GR-63-CORE Vibrational requirements for earthquake Zone 2 requirement, the maximum number of modules in a stack is nine (maximum totalheight 22 U).

. In wall mounting, the plinth is fixed onto the wall either by usingadapter mechanics or directly to the wall. The maximum number ofmodules per plinth is two.

. In pole mounting, the plinth is fixed onto a pole mounting kit (VMPBor FPKA) by using adapter mechanics. Adapters are needed toreduce the influence of non-parallel surfaces of the mountingbrackets. The maximum number of modules per plinth is two.

The FMFA delivery includes two fixing plates for the casings. Used inpole and wall installations, the plates are attached across twomodule casings on both sides of the modules.

See the following figure for an isometric view of the FMFA.

  • 3 Flexi Mounting Auxiliary Bracket (FMAA)description

The Flexi Mounting Auxiliary Bracket (FMAA) can be used to mountauxiliary boxes (FSEB, FSEC) in pole, wall, stack, or EMIA/EMIBinstallations. One FSEB can be installed to the Citytalk Cabinet without theuse of FMAA.

The FMAA is mounted to the top casing in horizontal stacks and the outercasing in vertical installations. The auxiliary boxes are then mounted to theFMAA based on their own installation principles. There is enough spacefor a maximum of one FSEC box and one FSEB box or two FSEC boxes.

Flexi mounting covers for back and front are optional 3U (FMCA) and 2U(FMCB) module covers that are required in installations without a cabinet. The primary functions of the covers are to provide protection against wind-driven rain, visual protection, and mechanical protection for the cables.Furthermore, the back cover protects the installer's fingers from therotating fans. The front cover air deflector is semi-transparent to allowassessing the status of the hardware LEDs without removing the frontcovers.

For installation instructions, see section Installing back and front covers inthe Installing Flexi WCDMA BTS Optional Items document.

The FMCA and FMCB deliveries include a grounding cable. Note that it isnot included in any module deliveries.

  • 9 Flexi Power Module (FPMA) and sub-modules (FPAA and FPBA) description

9.1 Flexi Power Module (FPMA) and sub-modules(FPAA and FPBA) operation

Flexi Power Module (FPMA) is an optional module. It comprises FPMAmechanics and AC and DC interfaces. The actual power sub-modules arethe following:

    . Flexi Power AC/DC sub-module 200-240 V AC (FPAA)

. Flexi Power Battery sub-module (FPBA)

The maximum number of sub-modules in an FPMA is four.

For installation instructions, see section Installing Flexi Power Module(FPMA) in the Installing Flexi WCDMA BTS Optional Items document.

The FPMA is presented in the following figures.

Flexi WCDMA BTS Optional Items Description

  • The FPMA can support 1-phase and 3-phase AC input. The nominal inputvoltage is 200-240 V AC (the operating voltage range is 180 - 276 V AC).The maximum output power from the FPMA is 4kW (with 4 FPAAs).Flexi Power AC-DC sub-module (FPAA)

The main function of the FPAA is to provide the BTS with nominal 48 V DCpower from an AC supply. Maximum DC output power of one FPAAmodule is 1000 W. A nominal 48 V DC supply is intended for BTS internaluse only (a nominal 48 V DC supply is not intended for 3rd partyequipment because they may require lower conducted emission level thanEN55022 Class A). The FPAA includes its own integrated self-controlledfan. In case the fan fails, an alarm is generated and the FPAA has to bereplaced (the fan alone cannot be replaced).

    Caution

Risk of thermal runaway of the battery, because temperaturecompensation of charging voltage is not supported. Do not connect anexternal lead acid battery for longer backup times to a nominal 48 V DCsupply.

    Flexi Power Battery sub-module (FPBA)

The Flexi Power Battery Sub-Module (FPBA) is a separate optional sub-module used together with the FPAA.

The FPBA provides short-term battery backup time when the AC powermains is down on a Flexi BTS site. The FPBA is a lithium ion battery. Themaximum DC output power from one FPBA module is 1000 W. The inputpower for the BTS cannot exceed the maximum output power of theinstalled batteries. Otherwise the batteries do not provide the BTS with theneeded power during power failure.

10.1 Flexi Power DC/DC Module (FPDA) operation

Flexi Power DC/DC Module (FPDA) is an optional stand-alone 2 kW DC/DC module.

When the BTS power load is more than 2 kW, multiple FPDAs can beinstalled in parallel. When FPDAs are used in parallel, a maximum of twoDC cables can be installed together at each output terminal.

Conducted emission level of the 53-55 V DC supply is according to thestandard EN55022 Class A. The 53-55 V DC supply is intended for BTSinternal use only (the 53-55 V DC supply is not intended for 3rd partyequipment because they may require lower conducted emission level thanEN55022 Class A).
