14th Sunday in Ordinary Time
In the heat of the summer it is good to hear these words of Jesus:
“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give
you rest.” We can rest in the assurance that God loves us and has
saved us and the world. However, that rest does not mean that we
stop giving witness to God’s love and salvation in the world. Our
Sunday worship is the time God feeds and nourishes us with God’s
presence, in Word, in the Eucharist, in the presider and in the com-
munity. We rest in that love, but we bring the gift we have been
given to others throughout the week to come. Who is it that you
know that needs God’s love, peace and salvation? How will you
share the gifts you have been given with that person?
Thank you for your generous support in last
week’s Peter’s Pence Collection! As a par-
ish, we collected $3,159.17
Our contributions will be combined with
those from our brothers and sisters around
the world to help Pope Francis provide essential relief to people in
need. If you missed the collection, it is not too late to give, visit
www.usccb.org/nationalcollections, and click on the “How to
Give” link on the left.
y haga clic en el enlance “How to Give” al lado izquierdo.
Gospel Meditation Jesus and God, his Father, are so closely related that
knowledge of Jesus gives knowledge of the Father, but this
is not solely an intellectual knowledge. It is a knowledge
based in experience – the intimate experience of a child and
a parent. Jesus invites us to rest in him and become re-
freshed through knowing and loving him. How do we find
time to rest in the Lord? How do we prioritize our relation-
ship with God?
Dios?
