January was packed with various exciting

activities at Forest Elementary. The

month was highlighted by the canned

food drive and the fourth grade con-

cert. Forest students were asked to

bring in canned good to support a local

food pantry. When the students brought

in more than one thousand items, I

agreed to get “slimed”. Our students

did a fantastic job and brought in well

more than a thousand items. We are so

proud of our students for working so

hard for such a great cause.

January 25th featured the fourth graders

performing in the winter band, orches-

tra, and chorus concerts. Kudos to Mr.

Vogan, Mrs. Kiefer, and Mr. Miller for

leading our students through this

event. The students did a magnificent

job and the concert was excellent.

Forest Elementary School Rules

DISMISSAL/ PICKUPS

Dismissal for all students is at 2:15 pm. Your child will be placed on a

bus unless a WRITTEN NOTE has been provided to the child’s

teacher indicating they will be picked up or have been enrolled in the

Just For Kids afterschool program in our building. If you are picking up

your child, please go to the auditorium to sign out your child with our

monitor by 2:25 pm. Please do not go to the classroom to pick up your

child. If you are going to be picking your child up early, a note is also

required and you will pick your child up at the Main Office. Please do

not email the teachers any dismissal changes.

MORNING DROP OFF

If dropping off your child in the morning, please use the N. Forest side

entrance door. Children should not be dropped off earlier than 8 am.

ABSENCES

If your child is going to be absent from school, please call our

Attendance Clerk, Mary Grygier, at 626-9818 to report this absence.

We must account for all students every day and your help with this will

save us further follow up. You may leave a message at this number the

night before or early morning if that is more convenient for you.

VISITORS

All volunteers/visitors need to sign in at the Main Office and wear a

visitor sticker. All doors of the school are locked. Anyone entering the

building needs to use the Main Entrance doors. We ask that you do

not let anyone in behind you or when you are leaving. All visitors must

state their name and purpose of visit to the Main Office staff. Please do

not visit a teacher’s classroom unless it has been prearranged.

the gym.

Congratulations Artists!

LUNCH PRE-PAYMENT SYSTEM

Williamsville School District's Food Service Department is excited

to provide parents a convenient, easy and secure online prepay-

ment service to deposit money into your child's school meal ac-

count at any time. This service also provides parents the ability to

view your child's account balance through a web site called

myschoolbucks.com. By having money in each child's account we

find the lunch lines move along much faster . A $1.95 transaction

fee is charged but the District offers a free lunch to offset this.

For more information, please see the District Child Nutrition

page: http://www.williamsvillek12.org/departments.cfm?

subpage=1345

You will need your child’s student ID number to set up an ac-

count. This number is on your WITS Parent Portal. The website

for student meal pre-payment is:

www.myschoolbucks.com You also always have the option

to send cash or check with your child or stop in to our cafeteria

YEARBOOKS

Forest Elementary 2016-2017 Yearbook orders are now being taken online. The cost is $15 for the

basic yearbook. Additional enhancements are available for an additional cost. We will only be

accepting online orders this year. The orders will be received and distributed later this Spring.

Any questions can be directed to Kristin Kolt at [email protected] or Tricia Evans triciae-

[email protected].

From the PTA

The Forest PTA will be sponsoring a used book sale at the Fun Fair on Friday, March 10. Starting

February 1 we will be accepting used books from all families to be sold. This is a great opportunity

to clean off your shelves and send in all those books you and your kids no longer read. Proceeds

from sale will be used to pay for author visits and other fun literacy events for next year at Forest.

Any leftover books will be donated to charity. Send used books in with your child any day during

February. There will be a collection table near the main doors. If you have a large number of books,

email [email protected] to arrange transfer. Many thanks!

Parent-Teacher Conference Sign-Up

Sign up for Parent-teacher conferences is done on your WITS Parent Portal.

You may sign up for your conference on your WITS parent portal beginning on

February 1st (at 9 am) through February 28th.

Please note there is early dismissal at 10:30 am

on Friday, March 10 and Monday, March 13.

After that date, you must contact the Main Office to schedule a conference.

If you plan to pick your child up on the 10:30 am dismissal days, please be sure to send

a written note to their teacher in with your child that morning.

Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten registration for the 2017-18 school year will take place

on March 7, 8, 9, 14 and 15 by appointment only.
