Volunteer Opportunity: Donut Ministry

The Catholic Center community thanks Joyce Waller for

coordinating our Donut Ministry during the past school

year! Now it’s time to pass the baton for the upcoming

2015-2016 school year. We are looking for someone to

coordinate the volunteer schedule for donuts after the

10AM Sunday Masses. Please call the office if you would like to sign up for

the Donut Ministry or are interested in learning more about what it entails.

CONGRATULATIONS, FIRST COMMUNICANT! The Catholic Center community congratulates and rejoices with Jack Carmean and his family as Jack receives his First Holy Communion on Saturday, June 6th.

Two “free” ways to contribute $$ to the Catholic Center

If you shop online or if you shop at Kroger, you can help the Catholic Center at UGA by registering us as your selected non-profit. It costs you nothing extra when shopping online and does not affect your personal Kroger rewards account, but many online vendors and Kroger participate in programs which will donate a portion of the proceeds from your purchases back to your designated non-profit. It is very simple: you shop for the things that you would purchase anyway, and the Catholic Center benefits!

Kroger Community Rewards

Register online at krogercommunityrewards.com and select 22875 or The Catholic Center at UGA as your designated non-profit.

Goodshop for the Catholic Center

Register the Catholic Center at UGA as your selected non-profit at goodshop.com. Then use Goodshop when shopping at over 5,000 of your favorite online stores.

RCIA/CATTS Monthly Summer Meeting

During the summer, the RCIA and CATTS groups join Sr. Barbara

once a month for a discussion of the upcoming Sunday’s readings and

the early church. The next meeting is Wednesday, June 10th at 6:30pm

in the TV room at the Center.

Important Notice about Fr. Tom to the UGA Catholic Center Community

Many of you have been aware that Fr. Tom Vigliotta has been in the hospital for the past month. He has been making slow but steady progress with his rehab. Due to various healthcare issues, however, he has decided to transfer to a Franciscan infirmary located in Ringwood, New Jersey. It is an excellent healthcare facility as well as a friary. Fr. Tom will receive the healthcare he needs there and will have the support of other friars he will live with. In addition, he will be closer to where his family lives in New York. The transfer should happen soon; however an

exact date has not yet been determined. When that date becomes clear we will get that information out. The Franciscans of Holy Name Province will likely begin a process of searching for and identifying another friar to join the Catholic Center ministry team. Please continue to pray for Fr. Tom as makes this new transition in his life. Fr. Tom requests please no visitors during the remainder of his stay at St. Mary's .

Women’s Dinner ~ Surf’s Up!

Thursday at 6PM All Catholic Center Women (21 or better) are invited

to the monthly Women’s Dinner on Thursday, June

11th. Join us for an evening of good food,

good fun and Christian Fellowship. Cost is $10 and you

must RSVP by Monday, June 8th. This month we are

collecting canned goods (peas, potatoes and beets) for

the Athens Emergency Food Bank.

Silver Angels Summer Hiatus The Silver Angels do not meet during the summer months because so many are travelling. Our next meeting will be the 3rd Wednesday in September.

Did you know that one out of three women in the US will experience

an abortion in her lifetime? PATH (Post Abortion Treatment and

Healing) is here to help. A new Scripture based support group will

be offered in Athens beginning July 18th, 2015 at St. Joseph's

Catholic Church, 9598 Epps Bridge Parkway, Athens, 30606. Call

PATH at 404-717-5557 or email [email protected] to register. Christ centered

and confidential care is available. Take courage, He is calling you!
