TRINITY SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS THAT USE THE COMMON APPLICATION

The following are scholarships that use the common application, activities list and/or financial statement. Some scholarships may require documents other than the common application, such as letters of recommendation, essays and cover letters. The dollar amounts may vary depending upon the availability of funds. Dean Addison Memorial Scholarship - This is a $500 scholarship. Applicants must have been involved in school activities and have maintained a GPA of 2.0 or above. Aikins Family Scholarship* – The recipient of this $500 scholarship shall have demonstrated leadership qualities within the community and school; and, have played school sports; have financial needs; have a minimum GPA of 2.5; and, have attended Trinity High School for at least two years. Preference is given to someone who plans to attend a Junior College or a Trade School with plans to study Math, Science, History or English. A cover letter shall be required. Ralph Beamer Memorial Scholarship – Awarded to a senior who has attended Trinity High no less than two years. The applicant must have demonstrated participation in FFA, either past or present, have a GPA of 2.5 or better, and plan to obtain a degree in agriculture, ag education or education. Dr. Bob – This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior from Trinity High School who has attended THS a minimum of two years with a GPA of 2.0 or greater. Student must be planning to attend a college or vocational school, and, be of good moral character, hard-working, responsible, reliable and dependable. Dr. Robert Breeden Memorial Scholarship – Preference for this $800 scholarship will be given to a student that has an active interest in service within the medical profession and has a 3.0 or better grade point average. Hugh and Gilda Brown Scholarship – Award given to a graduating senior of the Trinity Alps District who has attended at least two years. Student must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and intend to go to a vocational or trade school. Must have an active interest in self-improvement, be of good moral character, caring, considerate of others, hard-working, responsible and dependable.

Leone Irene Costa – The recipient of this scholarship must have attended Trinity High School for at least one year and have a minimum GPA of 2.0. Herbert W. & Frances Smith Day Memorial Scholarship – One $500 award will go to a senior with a 2.5 or higher GPA; has an interest in education/teaching and has demonstrated good citizenship. Eleanor Driskell Music Scholarship – One award given to a student who has attended THS for at least two years, has a minimum 2.5 GPA, of good moral character, hard working, responsible, reliable and dependable. Student must have a specific interest in music; otherwise a music interest and a career goal. Jason Fisher – This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating THS senior who has a minimum GPA of 2.0. Student must be planning to attend a college or vocational school and have been involved in volunteer service, be of good moral character, hard working, responsible, reliable and dependable. Recipient must have attended THS at least two years. K. C. Forbes Memorial Scholarship – Awarded to a THS senior who is of good moral character, responsible and reliable, hard working and considerate of others; or, to a THS graduate who has completed fifty-six (56) semester units, or equivalent units, and has maintained a grade point average of 2.75 or better. The applicant must plan to obtain a degree in education and/or speech therapy and have attended THS at least two years. Rosalie Groesbeck Soroptimist Scholarships* - The recipient of this Soroptimist scholarship must be a senior girl who has attended THS for at least two years and is pursuing a career in education, business, medicine or law. The application must contain a 200-word essay stating her goals. A cover letter and three letters of recommendation are required. Kyle Fields Jepsen Memorial Scholarship – This award will be given to a senior who is caring and considerate of others; has an active interest in self-improvement; and, has a GPA of 2.5 or better. Recipient must have attended Trinity High School no less than two years. Lewiston Garden Club & Dixie Wilson Memorial Scholarships- Three scholarships are being offered for students whose career plans are related to the objectives of the California Garden Clubs – botany, conservation, entomology, floriculture, forestry, horticulture, landscape architecture, plant biology and/or plant genetics, urban planning, or

research in allied fields. Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or better and have demonstrated an interest in school/community activities. Loyal Order of the Moose of Lewiston Scholarship * - The primary intention of this scholarship is to provide an increased number of trades-oriented personnel in Trinity County. This will carry 50% of the consideration. The recipients must have at least a 2.0 GPA, demonstrate an aptitude in high school trade courses, have a financial need and be dependable and responsible. Preference may be given to students with Moose family affiliation. Letter of recommendation is required. Thomas J. Ludden Leadership Scholarship – This award will be given to a student who is amiable, diligent, has been an active participant in their high school class, athletics, clubs, student body leadership activities, and, has maintained a grade point average of 2.5 or higher. Adrienne Marceau-Thomas Scholarship- One $500 award will go to a senior with a 2.0 or higher GPA and has demonstrated good citizenship. Stan Martin Scholarship - Verification from the yearbook advisor that the applicant has an interest and ability in journalism is required. This TSF scholarship is $500. Student must be majoring in language arts or communication. Mary T. Meckel Memorial Scholarship - A $500 scholarship awarded annually to a graduating THS senior who has maintained a “B” average or better, is of good moral character and citizenship, wishes/plans to attend a 4-year college and would be helped by financial assistance. Leonard and Florence Morris Scholarship – A $500 scholarship for a senior who intends to enroll full time at a two or four-year college/university. Must have attended Trinity High School for a minimum of two years with a GPA of 2.5 or better. The student should be hard working, reliable/responsible, demonstrate good citizenship and character and have an active interest in history. Jesse Murdock III - E Clampus Vitus Scholarship – One award will be given to a senior who has maintained a 2.5 or above GPA, plans to attend college, demonstrates financial need, has good moral character, and participates in campus activities. Student should know where they are going and is willing to work for it. North Fork Grange – Junction City* - Three awards given to students planning to attend a college, university or trade school and has maintained a 3.0 or higher GPA, be of good moral character, active in

school and community activities, and shows financial need. Preference will be given to a former Junction City student. The application requires a cover letter indicating interest and reason for applying. Glen Peters Memorial Scholarship - One $500 scholarship awarded to a THS senior with good citizenship and grades. Preference is given to someone who intends to major in science, math or education. Tracy Plew Memorial Scholarship - This $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior of THS or Alps View. Candidates must have above average academic standards. Preference will be given to students who express an interest in Performing Arts, Visual Arts and/or Writing. The scholarship is renewable upon completion of twenty-four (24) units if the recipient maintains full-time enrollment and a “C” average while in college. Lonnie Pool Scholarship - One scholarship is available for a student with an active interest in aviation – design, development, production, operation, or use of aircraft. The recipient should be hard working, reliable, and honest, have a minimum GPA of 2.5, and, have attended THS a minimum of two years. Thelma Riordan – Awarded to a THS senior who has attended THS no less than two years and has a minimum GPA of 2.0. Student must have been involved in volunteer service either in the community or at high school, be of good moral character, hard working, responsible/reliable and dependable. Norma Wilson Shuh Scholarship - The recipient of this $500 scholarship must be an English Honor student with a goal to obtain a degree in English. They should also have the highest marks in English during his/her four years in high school and have the recommendation of the English department. Phillip Stewart Memorial Scholarship - The recipient of this $500 scholarship must have attended THS for at least 3 years and maintained a 3.0 GPA or better over seven semesters. Student must be an active participant in a full range of school activities with preference given to English, drama, basketball or track. The recipient should be a hard-working student of integrity who is respected by peers and teachers. The student should be someone who values group achievement more than individual achievement. A letter of recommendation from a staff member, which addresses the above characteristics, is required.

Barbara Thiessen Community Service Scholarship – Must have attended a Trinity County secondary school for at least two years and have a minimum 2.0 GPA. Recommendation required for community service. Trinity County Association of Realtors Scholarship – This scholarship is for a current graduate of Trinity High School who will be attending a college, university or trade school full time (12 units) next year. Preference will be given to a student majoring in business. Trinity County Pilots Association – Must have an active interest in aviation – design, development, production, operation, or use of aircraft – and have a grade point average of 2.5 or better. This may be awarded as a companion award with the Lonnie Pool Scholarship or on its own. Trinity County School Administrators’ Scholarship – This $500 scholarship is awarded to a student demonstrating outstanding leadership in school activities and the community. Trinity Garden Club Scholarship – This scholarship is for students with career plans related to the objectives of the California Garden Clubs, i.e. botany, conservation, entomology, floriculture, forestry, horticulture, landscape architecture, plant biology and/or plant genetics, urban planning or research in allied fields. Student must have a demonstrated interest in school/community activities and maintained a 2.5 or higher GPA. Trinity High Alumni Association - This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior from Trinity High School who has attended THS a minimum of two years with a GPA of 2.0 or greater. Student must have been actively involved in school activities and planning to attend a college or vocational school; must also be of good moral character, hard-working, responsible, reliable and dependable. Trinity Lake Lions Club Scholarships - TLLC will award scholarships each year, funds permitting, to graduates of Trinity or Alps View High schools. Student(s) must live in the No. Trinity Lake area comprising Covington Mill to top of Scott Mountain. Students must submit an essay, which will account for 40% of your total score. The essay must be new and original, written for this scholarship application. The topic is “My Plans for the Future”. Let us know who you are, who you want to be, and your personal goals and objectives. Evaluate your skills and talents and give specifics of the further education and training you will need. Tell us how the university, community college or school you have chosen can best prepare you for your future. The essay should be 500 to 1000 words in length. Students will be judged and scored according to academic

performance. Finalists will be interviewed before a selection is made. A first year scholarship winner may be invited to apply for scholarships beyond the first year of higher education. Trinity River Lumber Company Scholarship* - Two scholarships given where preference will be given to a child or stepchild of an employee or a relative of a Trinity River Lumber Company employee. Recipient may be a graduate of any Trinity County high school with a grade point average of 2.0 and who will attend a trade school, or a two or four-year college. A cover letter is required to explain motivation and financial need. Trinity Scholarship Foundation Community College Grants - Several one-time awards will be given to students planning to attend a California Community College on a full time basis (12+ units) with a 2.0 GPA or better. To be used for tuition/fees and books. Trinity Scholarship Foundation Scholarships - TSF will offer 10 or more scholarships for a variety of amounts. Awards will be made on academic achievement for students with a 2.0 GPA or better. Student must plan to attend college full-time (12+ units). Veterans of Foreign Wars, Weaverville Post 7705 – A $300 award offered to a student who has attended Trinity High for at least two years with a minimum 3.0 GPA, is of good moral character, hardworking, responsible, reliable, dependable and is either interested in going into the military or has a family military background. Career goals can be of college or vocational consideration. Weaverville Lions Club Scholarships - Three awards (given over two semesters) to students who have an active desire for self-improvement, cares about others and their community, carries a GPA of 2.0 or better and plans to attend a college or vocational school. Weaverville Volunteer Fire Department - A $500 scholarship is given to a graduating senior who is a Junior Firefighter, with a “C” average or better, who plans to pursue a fire science major. The scholarship is to be used for books and/or equipment. Ben Wellock & Melanie Wellock-Perry Memorial Scholarship – Student must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, involved in volunteer service, actively involved in 4-H/FFA in raising and exhibiting of livestock/animals, been involved in competitive high school sports, and, an active interest in classic vehicles (this is not required, however, could be a determining factor).

WES Boosters – Given to students who attended WES prior to Trinity High School, have maintained a “C” or better GPA and have an interest in self-improvement.

ROTARY SCHOLARSHIPS Students please note that these scholarships ALL require a cover letter. One is required for each different scholarship you apply for. The Art scholarship REQUIRES a PORTFOLIO. Do Not turn in without these attachments. Don Blackwood Rotary Club Scholarship * - The recipient must demonstrate good will, harmony and potential academic, social and career success. The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded on the basis of merit to a student desiring to attend a college/university or vocational school. The common application is required with a cover letter indicating interest and reasons for applying. An interview will be arranged later. This may be awarded to a relative of a Rotary member. Preference is given to previous recipients. Duane and Sharron Heryford Rotary Club Scholarship * - One $2,000 scholarship awarded to a graduating senior who has attended at least two years at a Weaverville secondary school and will be attending a vocational school, college or university. Applicant must show good will and harmony, potential academic, social and career success. Scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of merit and not solely on financial need or academic standing. The common application is required with a cover letter indicating interest and reasons for applying. An interview will be arranged later. Preference will be given to previous winners. Moon and Dorothy Lee Rotary Club Scholarship *- One $2,000 scholarship awarded to a graduating senior who has attended at least two years at a Weaverville secondary school and plans to attend a vocational school, college or university; shows demonstrated financial need, good will and harmony in the high school and community, potential academic, social, and career success. The common application is required with a cover letter indicating interest and reasons for applying. An interview will be arranged later. Preference will be given to previous winners.

Sharon MacKenzie Rotary Club Education Scholarship* - A $1,500 scholarship awarded to a graduating senior who has attended a Weaverville secondary school for at least two years. Applicant must have an expressed desire to attend a college or university to pursue a course of study leading to a career in Education. Applicant must also demonstrate good will and harmony in the high school and the community and potential academic, social and career success. This scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of merit and not solely on financial need. A cover letter is required indicating interest and reason for applying. An interview will be arranged at a later time. Candidates will have the opportunity to reapply in subsequent years. “Hap” and Millie Miller Rotary Club Scholarship * - A $2,000 scholarship awarded to a graduating senior who has attended a Weaverville secondary school for at least two years and has plans to attend a vocational school, college or university. Applicant must demonstrate financial need; shows good will and harmony in high school and the community, and shows potential academic, social and career success. A cover letter is required indicating interest and reasons for applying. An interview will be arranged later. Preference is also given to previous recipients of this scholarship. Leonard and Florence Morris Rotary Club Art Scholarship* - One $2,000 scholarship to be awarded to a student graduating from a Weaverville high school and expressing a desire to attend an art school, college, or university with a focus on art. The term “art” shall mean graphic arts or crafts. This scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of merit and not solely financial need. The common application is required with a cover letter indicating interest and reasons for applying. You must provide a portfolio of your artwork. An interview will be arranged later. Preference will be given to previous winners. Rotary Club of Weaverville Community Scholarship * - One $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to a graduate, or graduating senior, of a high school in Weaverville who attended the school for at least two years. This scholarship will be awarded on the basis of good will and harmony in school and community. Must demonstrate potential academic, social and career success, and plan to attend a vocational school, college or university. This scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of merit and not solely on financial need or academic standing. Attention will be given to the student who demonstrates a history of at least two years of community service. A cover letter is required indicating interest and reasons for applying. A candidate who has once been awarded a grant under this scholarship shall thereafter be considered as a candidate until such time that the selection committee determines the candidate has

either completed their educational program or ceases to make reasonable progress toward such completion. Herb and Helen Woods Rotary Club Service Scholarship * - One $2,000 scholarship awarded to a senior who has attended at least two years and will graduate from a secondary school in Weaverville. This scholarship will be awarded on the basis of goodwill and harmony in school and community and the promise of future success. Attention will be given to the student who demonstrates service to others as exemplified by the Rotary concept of “Service above Self”.
