This BIM Project Execution Plan (PxP) was developed by Solve Design and

Construction to create an overall vision along with the implementation details of the

construction of CON 453 Healthcare clinic to be built in Northwest Corner Lot at

intersection of West University Drive and South Ash Avenue, Tempe, Arizona. This

proposed Health care facility, project number 1, will be a 27,600 square foot projected

area and 17- 32 foot high, two story building, and has prevision to begin the

construction in January of 2015, and to be completed in 24 months.

SECTION A: BIM PROJECT EXECUTION PLAN OVERVIEW

To successfully implement Building Information Modeling (BIM) on a project, the project

team has developed this detailed BIM Project Execution Plan. The BIM Project

Execution Plan defines uses for BIM on the project (e.g. design authoring, cost

estimating, and design coordination), along with a detailed design of the process for

executing BIM throughout the project lifecycle.

The mission of this BIM Project Execution Plan is primarily to outline the implementation

of the BIM uses that are of high interest to BIMedical Providers Group (the owner) such

as:

● Design/Constructability Reviews;

● Cost Estimation;

● 3D Coordination;

● Site Utilization Planning;

● Phase Planning;

● Record Modeling.

We will also present the BIM uses that SOLVE Design & Construction has identified as

potential BIM uses that would bring value to this and future similar projects, which

include:

● Design Authoring;

● Lighting Analysis;

● Digital Fabrication;

● Energy Analysis.

BIM ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

BIM Manager Manage the process of virtually constructing the facility and documenting the design contract documents accurately. In addition, he leads the BIM coordination meetings.

Client Facing Staff & Business Developers

Have a great experience with BIM in order to speak the language, show the vision of the company, make achievable promises and establish a great relationships\ with the client.

BIM Legal Team Update contracts and create contents that meet the BIM scope.

Initial Design Team Work in the first stages, making design collaboration meetings with the client to initiate the design within a BIM environment.

Project Production Staff

Performed by the BIM technicians who detail and materialize the design ideas produced by the Initial Design into the BIM models, designs, engineering, and construction documentation. They are BIM software modeling expert with solid understanding of their specific design discipline.

Estimators Adjust the BIM Models for the quantity take-off and the cost analysis and calculate the costs to obtain the cost estimation.

SECTION H: BIM AND FACILITY DATA REQUIREMENTS

For this project several BIM uses were previously listed by the owner, as show at

section A of this BIM Project Execution Plan. The BIMedical Providers Group will build a

new health-care clinic in Tempe, AZ, and they are particularly interested in investing

resources on planning this facility because they intent to eventually create additional,

similar health-care facilities throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area. The owner has

specifically identified several BIM uses – Design/Constructability Reviews, Cost

Estimation, 3D Coordination, Site Utilization Planning, Phase Planning and Record

Modeling – and also required Solve Design & Construction to define some additional

BIM uses that would add value for this particular project.

SECTION I: COLLABORATION PROCEDURES

1. Collaboration Strategy:

For a full coordination and collaboration of the team, the communication to the

development of the project will occur through weekly in-person meetings at Wednesday

afternoons. In addition, the company’s members will maintain a virtual communication

by Google Hangout and Gmail.

The project data and information sharing will be established using Google Drive online

storage. All members will have access to the company’s Google account and they will

update the project files periodically.

In case of disagreement between team members, all members should gather to analyze

each side and find a solution that better achieve the project goals. If some member

starts to have lack of performance, participation, or attendance, the rest of the team will

talk with him/her to understand the situation. Thus, a way to compensate this will be

established.

2. Meeting Procedures:

4. Interactive Workspace The headquarter of Solve Design & Construction is located at 701 E Apache Blvd.,

Tempe, AZ. The initial phases of planning and design of the facility will be executed at

this location, as well as the regular meetings with the other parties involved in the

project. All the organizations involved in the project, such as the Design Company –How

I Drew Your House, the Engineering Company –The Terminal Engineering, and legal

Issues Firm –Pearson Specter, have also their own facilities. Solve Design &

Construction will also have a temporary facility installed at the construction site to

facilitate a proper execution of the BIM uses during construction phases.

5. Electronic Communication Procedures All electronic communication is going to be performed through Google Drive and Google

Hangout. The email of the company has enough capacity to store all data required for

this project. The file location and file structure name for our project files are defined at

the following table.

SECTION J: QUALITY CONTROL

1. OVERALL STRATEGY FOR QUALITY CONTROL:

The quality inspections will be implemented during the execution of each activity, during

the equipment and material delivery, and by the development of a virtual mock up. For

each activity, inspection will occur at the beginning of the work, permitting the early

identification of issues. In the case of equipment and material delivery, the inspection

will be executed when they arrive in the construction site, identifying non-conformity

before they be used, such as defects in equipment, broken material or wrong material

model. Finally, the virtual mock up permits an early agreement between the project

stakeholders about the design intent, function and look.

The accuracy of the models is going to be the greatest degree of accuracy possible.

Tolerances are going to be based on team expertise, experience, and field

observations. Also, surveys and construction drawings are going to be used as
