SKILLS AUDIT • Skills audits are usually done to determine training needs in order for an organisation to

improve its skills and knowledge.

• The main purpose for conducting a skills audit in an organisation is to identify the skills and

knowledge that an organisation requires, and to determine the current skills and knowledge of

that organisation.

• The outcome of the skills audit process is to conduct a skills gap analysis. This information will

enable the organisation to improve by providing the appropriate training and development to

individuals to cater for the identified skill gaps.

• An audit could assist to determine changes and improvements needed that could be addressed

by training interventions.
