• NORTH ATLANTIC MUSEUM OF ARCHAEOLOGY [D8] - This early colonial house located on the shores of Shawme Pond was formerly occupied by the Tobey-Knott families and is currently being renovated to display archaeological collections from the North Atlantic region. • WING FORT HOUSE [F3] – Holds the secrets of 300+ years of Rev. John Wing’s family who first arrived from England around 1637 and still resided here in 1940. While the Reverend’s wife Deborah Bachiler Wing and their three sons embraced differing religious beliefs and life skills, the Wing Fort House begins with son Stephen’s original structure and Quaker lifestyle. Visitors enjoy two stories of Colonial through Victorian restorations, Wings’ “everyday antiques,” and an occasional archaeological dig or restoration project on grounds that abut a calming salt marsh. Across the road in the former Wing orchard, plans are underway for more museum exhibits, educational programs, and family research. Owned by the Wing Family of America and run by volunteer family members and the caretaker-guide-archaeologist, both buildings survive through admissions, dues and donations.
