Summer Worship FOCUS Summer Worship July 5 @ 9:30 am The first of the FOCUS Summer Worship Services will be at the First Pres- byterian Church corner of Willet and State streets (located by Washington Park). Street parking is available. The Rev. Alexandra Lusak, will be preaching. Chris McNabb from National Religious Campaign Against Tor- ture and Joe Paparone from FOCUS will facilitate conversation (after the service) on solitary confinement. 6. GIAB– Thank You! Gardening in a Bucket (GIAB) is happening and the vegetable seedlings are growing all around Albany family shelters, and schools. Children learn about growing and caring for vegetable plants while they decorate pots and assemble a portable garden to take home with them. Thank you to all the volunteers! The final GIAB will be next Tuesday at the Fowler Urban Day Camp at First Church in Albany's Clee Park. 3. Serving Albany Youth from FOCUS Churches are invited to participate in Serving Albany. This is a great opportunity to be serving our community. This summer, Westminster Presbyterian Church is hosting a Summer mission program where middle school and high school youth will spend 3 full days Serving Albany in the South End. All FOCUS youth are welcome to participate. Af- ter work each day, the youth will gather for games, worship and dinner together. This project provides school supplies to children who live in the FOCUS Interfaith Food Pantry area. Donations of supplies and/or money will be gratefully received. A list of desired sup- plies is above. We are also looking for volunteers to help sort, pack, and distribute supplies in the first week of September. If you are interested in volunteering, please call the FOCUS office at 443-0460 and ask for Belin- da. If you have other questions, please ask for Becca or email her at [email protected]. 4. Deb Jame- son testified at the NY Wage Board hearing to advocate for an increase in the minimum wage for fast food workers. Labor Com- missioner Musolino will make a recommendation to Gov. Cuomo who can make an Executive deci- sion on You can read her testimo- ny here: The Child Nutrition Reauthorization is set to expire September 30th! These bills are critical supports for needy families who depend on food assistance throughout the year.     FOCUS Summer Worship
