Important Facts.

Florida is called the Sunshine State because it has many sunny days.

It became the 27th State on March 3rd, 1845.

Florida is one of the leading tourist states in the United States.

Florida’s Climate.

The climate of North and Central Florida is humid subtropical.

There is a defined rainy season from June through September.

Snow and sleet have been witnessed as early as November and as late as April.

Easterly winds of the warm waters of the Gulf stream running through the Florida straits keep temperatures moderate across the southern peninsula all year round.

Languages spoken.

As of 2000, 76.91% of Florida residents age 5 and older spoke only English.

16.46% spoke Spanish.French based languages were spoken

only 1.38%French was spoken by 0.83%, followed

by German at only 0.59% and Italian at 0.44%

State Bird.

Florida’s state bird is the Mockingbird.They are best known for the habit of

some species mimicking the songs of other birds.

Mockingbirds also have a reputation of being fierce defenders of their nests.

A popular place.

This land of swaying palm trees and warm ocean breezes attracts visitors the year around, usually 80 million annually.

Many vacationers enjoy Walt Disney World Resort.

A theme park near Orlando. Miami Beach, a suburb of Miami, is one of the

state’s many famous resort centers.

Most popular Beach.

Some of the most popular beaches are near the Gulf Coast.

The most popular beaches are usually located near major population centers like Clearwater, Sarasota and Naples.

They attract lots of people all year round and are hot destinations for visitors from around the world.

Also, Clearwater is one of the best beaches in Florida.

Summary.

Florida is called the Sunshine state because it has sunny days, even in the winter.

Most of Florida’s climate is subtropical. Over 70% of Florida languages are spoken only

English. The state bird is the mockingbird, they are best known

for good defenders of their nests. Florida attracts many visitors around the world, also

many people enjoy going to Walt Disney world and a theme park near Orlando.

If I spent one whole day here…

The first thing I would do would be going to my Grandmas new house in Cape Coral.

Second, I would go to Fort Myers beach for most of the day.

Then, I would spend the rest of the day shopping.
