chaosThis story, which caused a fair amount of debate among panel members, is far more than just a reflection of weather systems and their growing lack of predictability. We can only guess at what lies ahead but it seems that the weather will grow increasingly hostile. As such Storm is an amalgamation of change; changing light, changing structures, changing terrain. Through a palette of smoky greys, fiery reds and twilight oranges, elements of mysticism and threat are explored. Light and the way it plays on surfaces is crucial, as are texture and structure, with linear frameworks inspired by exo skeletons to sprawling and untidy shapes that reflect chaos within nature. Either way it seems likely that before long, an umbrella and a waterproof jacket wont suffice as protection.

Create a moody atmosphere using misted tones and ethereal effects; diffused patterns blur shape and line in flooring and textiles for contract and domestic settings. Introduce a luxurious element through metallic touches; open structure textiles, semi opaque sheers and speckled glazed tiling echo turbulent currents for added interest. Frosted finishes on leathers and Perspex® soften bolder colours complemented by subtle textures in wall coverings. Tinted tones on walls instill a calming feel while punchier orange is key for an electrified feel on architectural features.
