RTJ Groove Gauges Designed to allow on-site and post-machining inspection for compliance of Ring-Type Joint (RTJ) grooves. The gauges are designed to cover all standard ASME B16.5 flange groove dimensions and allow inspection of both the groove seating surface condition (post assembly) in accordance with ASME PCC-1 Appendix D and the groove dimensional compliance (post machining) in accordance with ASME B16.5. For newly machined grooves (ASME B16.5 compliance): The groove dimensional compliance is checked using “Go”/”No- Go” gauges. The small end should fit into the groove with clearance (Fig 1), and the large end should not fit into the groove. If either of these conditions is not satisfied, then the groove dimensions are not in compliance. For in-service inspection of groove condition (ASME PCC-1 Appendix D compliance): the steel ruler supplied (Fig 2), should fit between the flange raised faces when the joint is assembled to ensure adequate clearance for re assembly and the gasket half profile is inserted into the groove (Fig 3), to determine if any groove defects are located in the seating surface region and to measure the distance across the seating surface (for classification of acceptable defect depth). In addition, the gasket profile is used to determine if any groove deformation (coining) is acceptable. The gauge set includes full laminated instructions for use of the gauges. 3/16 Griffin Drive, Dunsborough, Western Australia, 6281 Tel: +61 (0)8 6369 1030 Fax: +61 (0)8 6230 5268 ABN: 18 146 671 801 Email: [email protected] www.integrityes.com Flange Inspection Tools Flange Inspection Tools Engineering Solutions Engineering Solutions Joint Gap Gauges Designed to allow quick, simple and consistent measurement of the gap between raised faces or flange outside diameter. RTJ Groove GaugesDesigned to allow on-site and post-machining inspection for compliance of Ring-Type Joint (RTJ) grooves.

For newly machined grooves (ASME B16.5 compliance): The groove dimensional compliance is checked using “Go”/”No-Go” gauges.

Joint Gap GaugesDesigned to allow quick, simple and consistent measurement of the gap between raised faces or flange outside diameter. Flange gap closure measurement is required for joints both during initial assembly and final passes in accordance with ASME PCC-1.

These gauges allow quick and consistent measurement of the gap at multiple points around any flange. The significant advantage of these gauges over standard taper gauges is that they are much shorter than standard taper gauges and so are able to measure larger gaps without interference between the gauge and the gasket or raised faces occurring.

The gauges measure gaps from 1mm to 25mm (1/16” to 1”). Each gauge has 30% overlap in measurement to ensure use of the best gauge is possible.

The gauges are available in either US units or SI units and are supplied with a laminated set of instructions.
