Hi, I’m Louisa Heinrich, I work in Service Design.


But what exactly is Service Design?


Services have multiple touchpoints with di!erent uses, depending on your needs.


They come in many flavours…


A range of shapes and sizes.


But the real magic happens behind the scenes, and we never even think about it.


Every service is a complex system of moving parts...


all of which work together to enable something important.


Complex systems underlie all kinds of services.


We design digital services that transform businesses and help shape tomorrow’s world.

Our landscape has changed.


The Old Testament


In the beginning there was technology…


and lo, the geeks brought the gospel down from the mountain to the people.


But sometimes the gospel wasn’t all that relevant.


The New Testament (or, the Gospel according to Fjord)


Reality: in the beginning there were people.


People want to feel good.


Smartphones have put more power in people’s hands than ever before


And technology is catching up with our imagination…


So how do we invent things now? (the 10 7 new Commandments)


1. Thou shalt begin with people.


2. Thou shalt understand technology, but not worship it.


3. Thou shalt connect people in deeper ways


Connections are about content, too… MySpace mobile-first service innovation and design


4. Thou shalt put it in their hands as early as possible.


5. Thou shalt be humble.


6. And brave.


7. Thou shalt never think thou hast finished.


And lo, thou shalt be fruitful!
