Rave CRAVE Reviews

"Tricia Molloy attracted more than double our usual turnout--about 60 people--at UPS's Women in Leadership Development meeting. We were ready to learn how to reach our goals faster and easier, and she delivered what she promised. Through the CRAVE system, we learned the power of what we think, say and see. We also learned how physical and mental clutter can get in the way of our goals. Through our interactions during the program, we got to know each other's challenges as well as our aspirations and it brought us closer together. The next day, I used the CRAVE system to counsel two friends who needed help. It works!" Lois Lovemore, Compensation Manager UPS “Tricia Molloy did an excellent job when she spoke to Home Depot’s Women in Leadership Development group about how to CRAVE our goals. We had great participation and very positive feedback.” Cynthia Nelson, Director of IT Retail Systems The Home Depot "When planning meetings for the women's network here at Delta, I strive to feature speakers whose message resonates with the goals of work/life balance that I know we all have. Tricia's session, "CRAVE Your Goals!," was especially aligned with this. Many participants commented on the simplicity of the message and the value of each step for their professional and personal life." Mary Ann Green, President - Delta Women's Employee Network Delta Technology/Delta Air Lines

"Tricia Molloy's 'CRAVE Your Goals!' program was a big success at Cbeyond. Tricia presented to a diverse group of about 80 people and captivated everyone's attention. She packaged the information in a way that was relevant, memorable and easy to apply to our professional and personal lives. Many attendees were taking active notes. Since she spoke, I've noticed the 'CRAVE Your Goals!' article posted at many cubicles and have heard from employees about how they are using what they learned to manage projects. I'm personally following the CRAVE system to help me advance my career to the next level. Tricia was just what we needed to kick off the new year and help us get focused and fired up!" Julie Conley, Director of Customer Operations Cbeyond

"When Tricia presented simple strategies by which to live and grow at our October luncheon, her message could not have come at a better time. In the midst of the worst economic crisis of our lifetimes, she spoke with enough humor to get our minds off the stock market and tumbling home values and gave us hope through her CRAVE system. For this group of women business owners, taking time away from their offices has to mean something. Their feedback says it all: ‘Most enjoyable, very thought provoking.’ ‘The talk was both inspirational and timely for me.’ ‘Tricia was amazing!’ ‘This was one of the best speakers we've had in a long time!’ ‘Based on universal principles, Tricia's talk has the ability to keep things simple and still make a strong impact on our lives.’” Sara Burden, Atlanta Executive Board Member National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO)

Chapter 1

An Introduction to CRAVE, Universal Principles and Your Subconscious Mind

We all have professional and personal goals. It may be to manage a mission-critical

project at work, find a job or start our own business, become debt free, or lose those last

10 pounds. When we truly commit to our goals with our heart and soul, we can capitalize

on the power of our subconscious mind and universal principles to make our dreams

come true. Commit to follow the five-step CRAVE system to attract what you desire and

deserve.

About Universal Principles

The CRAVE system is an acronym that encompasses five of the ten universal principles

in “Divine Wisdom at Work”:

Clean Out the Clutter

Raise your Vibrations

Affirm Success

Visualize

Express Thanks

Universal principles are natural laws with the same power and integrity as gravity and

fire. They are ancient truths and proven tools that you can use at any time to make better

decisions, solve problems easier, build authentic relationships, be more productive and

creative, be less stressed, have more fun, make more money, and strike that elusive

balance between work and life.

Consider this simple statement of truth: What you think, feel, say to yourself and others,

and believe to be true creates your reality. Read that one more time. When you use

universal principles, you create your reality by design and not by default.

Page 7: Five Steps to Attract What You Desire and Deserve€¦ · people to capitalize on the power of their subconscious mind and universal principles—like Visualization, Affirmations

Your Subconscious Mind

The conscious mind is objective. It’s where we perceive, think and decide. The

subconscious mind is subjective. It records and retrieves information from all sources,

including events, feelings and expectations. It controls our autonomic functions, like

breathing and digestion. It also controls our habits like walking and driving a car. It stores

beliefs about our capabilities, good or bad, true or false—from “I can’t manage money”

to “I’m a good friend.” It is creative and intuitive and governed by emotions. It will

accept everything you tell it as reality and seek out resources and proof that substantiate

this reality.

Universal principles, like affirmations and visualization, support your success because

they help you communicate with your powerful and often overlooked subconscious mind.

Your subconscious mind is most accessible and receptive when you are in a relaxed,

peaceful state. Just before you fall asleep at night and as you awaken in the morning are

critical times to “feed” your subconscious with positive, uplifting messages. You can also

reach that receptive state during the day by practicing meditation or spending time in

quiet contemplation and gratitude.

Are You Enlightened?

The dictionary defines enlightened as “someone who is free from illusion.” So, my

question to you is: What illusions, fears, limiting beliefs and self-defeating habits are you

holding onto that are keeping you from being your best? It’s time to release them.

As I present my Working with Wisdom speaking programs to businesses and associations

and consult with their leaders, I have found that enlightened professionals share three

common characteristics.

Page 8: Five Steps to Attract What You Desire and Deserve€¦ · people to capitalize on the power of their subconscious mind and universal principles—like Visualization, Affirmations

© 2011 Tricia Molloy www.triciamolloy.com 8

First, they trust in their own innate wisdom to make conscious choices based on their

awareness. They use strategies like meditation and paying attention to their intuition to

help guide them.

Second, they live and work on purpose. They have a clear, written life purpose

statement—the reason they are here—and express that purpose often through the work

they do and by serving others. It’s what they are most passionate about and what gives

them joy. It’s what they would do regardless of compensation.

Finally, enlightened professionals have a high prosperity consciousness. They know

without a doubt that there is no lack; there’s more than enough to go around. They

naturally cooperate and collaborate instead of compete with others who share the same

objectives. They look for win-win opportunities and always find the time to offer advice

and mentor others. Commit to live and work enlightened.

Chapter 2

What Are Your Goals?

Before you can CRAVE your goals, you must determine what those goals are. For the

purpose of learning the CRAVE system, let’s start with three distinctive goals: a

professional goal, a personal goal and a bodacious, big dream goal.

Those who write down their goals are much more likely to accomplish them. And,

according to a study by the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD),

you are six times more likely to reach that goal if you share it with someone who will

hold you accountable. Now is the time to write down your three goals. I’ll wait.

My Professional Goal:

My Personal Goal:

________________________________________________________________________

My Bodacious, Big Dream Goal:*

________________________________________________________________________

________________________________________________________________________

* Bodacious is a juicy, emotion-packed word. It’s a combination of bold and audacious.

This is the kind of goal you may have had for a very long time. When you think of it, you

Page 10: Five Steps to Attract What You Desire and Deserve€¦ · people to capitalize on the power of their subconscious mind and universal principles—like Visualization, Affirmations

get goose bumps. You may have thought it was not within your reach, until now.

Consider the wise counsel of Michelangelo who said, “The greater danger for most of us

lies not in setting our aim to high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and

achieving the mark.” Aim high when it comes to your bodacious, big dream goal.

A Reflection on Goals

Since 2006, I’ve presented my “CRAVE Your Goals!” program to a wide variety of

audiences, from employees at The Home Depot, Delta Air Lines and UPS, to members of

entrepreneurial organizations like the National Association of Women Business Owners.

I’ve talked to eager college students and retired seniors.

While their professional goals vary widely, their personal and bodacious, big dream goals

tend to be very similar.

Most personal goals fall into three areas. First, they want to develop a healthy habit, like

eating better and exercising to lose weight. Second, they want to change their financial

picture, either by becoming debt free or financially independent. Third, they want to get

organized.

When it comes to bodacious, big dream goals, many aspire to travel and the most popular

destination for Americans is Europe. Italy tops the list. After that, they talk about having

a family vacation home either at the beach or in the mountains. Third, the goal is split

between starting a business or, if they own a business, leaving a legacy by making a

substantial contribution to a worthy cause through a foundation or starting a nonprofit

organization. I encourage you to claim your bodacious, big dream goal now.

Chapter 3

The CRAVE Your Goals! System

C is for Clean Out the Clutter

“Maintaining a complicated life is a great way to avoid changing it.”

Elaine St. James, Author of “Simplify Your Life”

Clutter distracts and confuses us. It drains our energy and keeps us from doing what’s

most important. It gets in the way of our goals. Once you recognize that clutter robs you

of being your best, you will be ruthless in cleaning out the clutter and developing systems

to keep the clutter from creeping back in.

If your office tends to be messy, imagine you finally get inspired to really clean out the

clutter. You throw away the garbage and clean up your desktop. You organize your files

and, if you are fortunate enough to choose your own clients, take the files of inactive

clients and put them into two piles—the ones you want to work with again and the ones

you hope you never ever see, not even in the supermarket. You clean up and organize the

first pile of files, put them back in the cabinet and call a few of these inactive clients to

inquire if you can work with them again or request referrals to others like them. See that

other pile of files? Throw it out. For some, this is too bold a move. At the least, box them

up and store them somewhere else. You’ll immediately feel the energy lighten up in your

workspace.

Once you’ve cleaned out your office clutter, you’ll notice the phone begins to ring, new

business and ideas spring up, and projects that were put on hold get back on track. That’s

because you have inadvertently activated a universal law. The law is: “The universe

abhors a vacuum.” So, when you clean out the physical clutter, you create the space for

the universe to fill it with what serves your highest good.

Page 12: Five Steps to Attract What You Desire and Deserve€¦ · people to capitalize on the power of their subconscious mind and universal principles—like Visualization, Affirmations

It’s more than just physical clutter; it’s also the technical and emotional clutter. Only you

can determine if your reliance on emails, your PDA and the Internet is healthy and

productive or not. Information overload is at epidemic proportions. We all have a choice

as to what we let in. One place to start is to be more selective with e-newsletters. Sort

through them and, if you notice you’re not opening certain ones, this is the time to

unsubscribe. It will instantly lighten your load.

What is emotional clutter? It’s the regrets, what ifs and resentments. The things you

haven’t forgiven about someone else or yourself. The unnecessary obligations—like too

many committee or social commitments that no longer serve you. It’s the toxic

relationships in your life. It’s the tolerations that need to be terminated—like commuting

in a dirty car or not knowing how to use most of the features on your cell phone.

Sounds overwhelming? The good news is, it doesn’t matter where you are, just in the

direction you’re headed. So, make a list of the physical, technical and emotional clutter

and those tolerations that are getting in the way and set a date (or at least a month) for

each to eliminate them.

R is for Raise Your Vibrations

“Flaming enthusiasm, backed up by horse sense and persistence, is the quality that most

frequently makes for success. If you want to be enthusiastic, act enthusiastic.”

Dale Carnegie, Author of “How to Win Friends and Influence People”

This step is about the importance of keeping a positive attitude. We are all vibrational

energy beings. We all vibrate at different levels at different times. Vibrations is just

another word for feelings and emotions. When you are governed by love, peace and trust,

when you’re feeling good and appreciated, you will vibrate at a high, light, positive,

constructive level. And, because energy attracts like energy, you will attract people and

circumstances that vibrate at that same level.

Conversely, when you are feeling fear, worry and shame, when you are stressed out and

burned out, you will vibrate at a low, dark, negative, destructive level and you will attract

people and circumstances that vibrate at that same level. We’ve all heard “Misery loves

company.”

So, where do you want to be vibrating? High! And how do you get there? By loving and

nurturing yourself. What does that mean? Here’s a brief list to get you started and a

couple of spots for your own additions. Put a check in the box next to what you already

do and put an x next to what you will commit to do and then add it to your calendar.

Keep this list posted as a reminder to raise your vibrations.

Here’s How I Raise My Vibrations!

Exercise regularly and stay active. Eat healthy. Drink lots of water. Get enough sleep. Breathe deeply. Smile a lot. Surround myself with positive, empowering people. Practice random and not-so-random acts of kindness.* Listen to my favorite music. Spend time with my pets. Express my love often. Feng Shui my home and office. Be polite and thoughtful of others. Enjoy a hobby. Master a new skill. Take a walk. Laugh. Play games. Sing. Sing with others. Dance. Journal. Mentor someone. Travel. Create art. Practice yoga. Volunteer. Meditate or take time for quiet reflection. Appreciate nature. Hold a baby. Donate. Pamper myself with a massage. Read inspiring stories and biographies of those I admire. Limit my intake of news, especially TV news before bedtime. Try something new that’s fun and challenging. Give thanks. Live on purpose. __________________________________________________________________

My teenage daughter, Allyson, and I were at a Chick-fil-A drive-through

one afternoon. As I was paying my bill, I decided to pay for the woman in

the car behind me. The only thing the woman saw as we drove away was

my license plate (above). “You are divine.” We were giddy wondering

what she thought when she was told her bill had been paid and what she

may have told her family that evening. For $5.65, that random act of

kindness raised our vibrations and probably raised hers, too. We suspect

she may have also paid it forward and treated someone else to a random

act of kindness.

A is for Affirm Success

“It’s the repetition of affirmations that leads to belief. And once that belief becomes a

deep conviction, things begin to happen…I am the greatest!”

Muhammad Ali, Three-Time World Heavyweight Champion

Studies show we speak to ourselves about 10,000 times a day and 80% of that tends to be

negative. That’s because we’re human and we are programmed to protect ourselves so we

often naturally think first about worst-case scenarios. “I’ll be stuck in traffic today” or “I

won’t make any sales.”

To counter those negative thoughts, use positive self talk, also known as affirmations.

These are the supportive messages you tell your subconscious.

Searching for Treasure

In 1969, modern-day treasure hunter Mel Fisher went in search of the treasure of the

Atocha, a Spanish galleon that sunk in a hurricane somewhere off the Florida Keys in

1622. He knew he needed to keep himself and his crew focused and motivated so they

started each day with this simple affirmation: “Today’s the day!” Five years go by.

“Today’s the day!” No treasure. Ten years go by. “Today’s the day!” No treasure. Fifteen

years go by. Still no treasure.

After sixteen years of searching, they finally found the treasure. The problem was that

just about everyone else, including the state of Florida, laid claim to that treasure. So,

Fisher had to endure more than 100 court battles, all the way up to the Supreme Court.

Finally, the Supreme Court ruled that the treasure was his. Forty tons of gold and silver

bars and coins and emeralds, worth more than $450 million.

Page 18: Five Steps to Attract What You Desire and Deserve€¦ · people to capitalize on the power of their subconscious mind and universal principles—like Visualization, Affirmations

Mel Fisher and Crew

What treasure are you searching for? Think of how much closer you could be to your

goals if you began every day with that simple affirmation: “Today’s the day

I will accomplish my goal!” Or, “Today’s the day I will take one step closer to achieving

my goal!” That’s the power of affirmations.

For affirmations to be effective, they should be positive, in the present and brief.

1) Positive. What does your dog and Google have in common? Neither of them

recognize words like no and not. Tell your dog he’s not going out and he’ll run

for his leash. Search Google for “no Mexican restaurants” in your city and find

your favorite cantinas. The same is true when you communicate with the universe

and your subconscious mind each time you talk to yourself. Tell yourself that you

will not be nervous next time you must make a public presentation. Chances are

you will. By simply rewording that statement to make it positive, like “I am a

dynamic, confident speaker” or “I love to speak,” you will shift your attention

from what you don’t want to what you want. You’re now “acting as if” and will

move in that direction.

2) Present. The universe and your subconscious mind only work in the present

moment. That means if you affirm that you will lose weight, get promoted or

Page 19: Five Steps to Attract What You Desire and Deserve€¦ · people to capitalize on the power of their subconscious mind and universal principles—like Visualization, Affirmations

© 2011 Tricia Molloy www.triciamolloy.com 19

become financially independent, you confirm that you will always be in the

process of trying to achieve those goals. Simply rephrase the statement in the

present to reflect what you need to do or what you know you are right now that

supports your goal. “I make healthy choices today.” “I am a leader and deserve to

be promoted.” “I manage my money wisely.” Have a goal but don’t know where

to start? Consider this affirmation: “I am open to receive guidance.”

3) Brief. To make it easy to remember, say it and share it with others, the best

affirmations are no more than about eight words. Write your affirmation down,

post it where you see it every day—on your bathroom mirror, car dashboard or

computer monitor. Consider writing it fresh every day and singing or chanting it

to bring it deeper into your soul. Have fun with it and expect great things.

Now, go back to page 9 and review your three goals. Below, write an affirmation for

each. Since most substantial goals are accomplished through the completion of a series of

smaller goals, your initial affirmation may support the first step toward your goal. For

example, if your professional goal is to earn $120,000 or more a year, your affirmation

may be: “I attract ideal clients that happily pay me $10,000 or more each month.”

V is for Visualize

“Formulate and stamp indelibly on your mind a mental picture of yourself as succeeding.

Hold this picture tenaciously. Never permit it to fade. Your mind will seek to develop the

picture.”

Norman Vincent Peale, Author of “The Power of Positive thinking”

Every top athlete has harnessed the power of visualization. The runner sees himself

breaking through the tape at the end of the race. The golfer sees the hole in one. What

can you picture about your goals?

Clients who have tried visualization will often say to me, “I keep a clear picture of my

goals in my mind but I’m no closer to achieving them.” Then, I explain that it’s a three-

step process.

The first step is to picture your goal either as a vivid, still picture or a motion picture of

the process or the end result. It pays to play with both to see what one works best for you.

The second step is to engage all your senses. What does it feel like? What do you smell,

hear and taste? By doing this, you are immersing yourself in this new reality.

The third step is to infuse it with all the emotions you would feel as if it was true, like

happiness, pride, relief and peace.

Try this visualization process for a few minutes a day a few days a week. You’ll begin to

notice ideas, opportunities and resources that support your goals. This is partly because

you’ve activated your RAS.

RAS stands for Reticular Activating System, which sounds like a new piece of exercise

equipment. It’s actually the part of your brain that keeps an eye out for what’s most

important to you. Our brains are bombarded by thousands of messages every second from

Page 21: Five Steps to Attract What You Desire and Deserve€¦ · people to capitalize on the power of their subconscious mind and universal principles—like Visualization, Affirmations

© 2011 Tricia Molloy www.triciamolloy.com 21

all our senses. The RAS acts like a spam filter to decide which ones get through. It’s what

helps you find the face of your child in a crowd at school or allows you to hear your

name in a noisy room. It’s what happens when you decide to buy a red Honda and you

start to notice every red Honda on the road and in advertising. It’s a problem-solving tool

that works, when you work it. Simply set an intention—like wanting to become savvier

with social networking—and your RAS goes to work to find the resources you need.

Your job is to trust in the process and stay aware.

While visualization is a great way to get motivated about long-term goals, you can also

use it to support your daily goals. Top executives and salespeople often picture how an

important meeting will unfold before it does. Let’s say you are preparing for a sales

meeting. Picture what you’re wearing, how you are greeted and the small talk you

exchange as you settle in. Then, continue to envision yourself as you expertly present the

benefits of your products or services. See your attentive prospect smile and nod at each

point you make. During this process, you might even hear the prospect voice an objection

that you hadn’t expected. Now, you have the time to formulate your response. Finally,

you’re in total agreement as you complete the sale. Taking a few minutes to do this

“dress rehearsal” increases your poise and confidence so you can perform at your best.

Create a Treasure Map

One of the best ways to activate the power of visualization is to use a treasure map or

vision board. It’s simply a bulletin board placed somewhere you can see it every day.

You adorn it with things that reflect what you want to manifest. Use pictures and words

clipped from magazines and newspapers, kind notes from clients or colleagues, and your

own photos and postcards. You get the idea. Fill your map and your mind with the

images and messages of what you want your life and work to look like. Remember to

tend to it regularly. Prune the pieces that no longer resonate and add others. It’s a

colorful, organic reflection of your best self.

My treasure maps have evolved over the years. I created the one on page 23 in 2006,

early in my Working with Wisdom career. It included logos of clients I wanted to work

with, like The Home Depot. There’s a postcard and flyer of an executive women’s retreat

at a five-star, all-inclusive beach resort in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I presented two short

programs over a long weekend there. One of those talks was poolside. Each evening, I

slept under the stars on the balcony of my room. I’d like to do many more of those.

When my book first came out, so many of my supportive friends and colleagues said,

“You should be on Oprah!” It seemed like such a cliché—just about everyone, especially

anyone who has ever written a book, thinks they should be on Oprah. Then, I thought that

“being on Oprah” was analogous to being wildly successful, touching about everyone on

the planet and making a difference. So, my goal to “be on Oprah” can take many forms

and that’s what I claim for myself.

It didn’t seem like enough to just put a photo of Oprah on my treasure map. Instead, I

boldly placed my own picture in a lineup of Oprah and her friends. I’m the one on the

right. It makes me smile each time I look at it. Have fun playing with your own treasure

map to reflect your professional, personal and especially bodacious, big dream goals.

E is for Express Thanks

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more.

Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for

tomorrow.”

Melody Beattie, Author of “Codependent No More”

Top performance experts like Tony Robbins agree that when you are grateful, fear

disappears. Fear and gratitude can’t reside in you at the same time. That’s the power of

gratitude.

It’s a universal law that what you focus on expands. By cultivating an attitude of

gratitude, you will attract more good things into your life and your work. In other words,

what you appreciate appreciates. One simple way to practice being thankful is to write in

a gratitude journal a few nights a week. List all the things you’re thankful for at work—a

great boss and clients, doing what you love—and add at least one unique entry each

time—I spoke with everyone I called today or I completed that major project ahead of

schedule. That programs you to become more aware of what’s going right. Pretty soon,

you’ll be saying to yourself, “Now, that’s another one for my journal!”

Another practice is to start each day—before getting out of bed or while you’re in the

shower—by saying to yourself five things you are thankful for. Make it a habit, just as

natural as brushing your teeth.

Gratitude can transform challenging relationships. It might be your boss or coworker or

perhaps a family member. Choose for the next week to resist any form of criticism and

instead focus on what you appreciate about them. In some cases, you might need to dig

deep and recognize that, at the least, they have taught you to be more patient. You may be

surprised at what does come up for you and, when it feels right, genuinely express that

appreciation to them. When you change your attitude about them and take that higher

road, they often rise above the issues to join you.

A famous Gallup poll revealed that most people quit their jobs not because of too little

money or too much stress but because they didn’t feel appreciated. I suspect that’s often

the hidden reason why many personal relationships also fail. Take the time to express

your sincere appreciation to others with a phone call or hand-written note.

Next time you don’t get that job offer or new client, consider what might seem to be a

counterintuitive response. When you are grateful for disappointments and perceived

setbacks, recognize the lessons learned and anticipate the gifts that will come from it—

like a better job or more ideal client—you will accelerate your success.

As it relates to your professional, personal and bodacious, big dream goals, give thanks

for what is at this moment and what will be in anticipation of your magnificent

accomplishments.

What are the top ten things you are grateful for today?
