Happy New Year

Happy Fresh Start

Happy Dreams and Visions

Happy Weight Loss

Happy 12 months of exercise

This time this is going to be my year to ….

be more hopeful, less controlling, stop

worrying, etc.

We feel defeated before we even begin, we

know we must speak it, hope for it, and then

forget it.

Look! I’m doing a new thing; now it sprouts up; don’t you recognize it?

Isaiah 43:19

What if we stop wishing, hoping, trying the same things that we already don’t believe

will work?

MANY THANKS to everyone who made the Advent and

Christmas Season so meaningful…

To the singers and ringers, I appreciate the sacrifice of your

time, and your willingness to be a part of the Choirs in our

church. Your dedication to the music of First United Methodist

Church means so much to so many people both in our church

and in our community.

To the Worship Committee and Altar Guild, thank you for

making the Sanctuary ready for Advent Worship and for

making sure that we had families in place to light the Advent

Wreath.

To all who have helped to share the love of Christ and the joy of

Christmas, let us remember our work is not done. Now we

must “Go Tell It”!

CHANCEL CHOIR will resume rehearsals on January 3rd

ENSEMBLE rehearsals resume on January 7th

CHANCEL BELLS will begin rehearsals again on January 10th

Just a thank you for all your thoughtfulness towards A.T.

and I this past year. Your support has meant a lot to us.

Sometimes the burdens seem heavy but it is always good to

know that our Church, FUMC of Monroeville, has our

backs. We wish all a good 2018.

Your Friends in Christ,

AT & Virginia McQueen

Hi FUMC Family,

Please know how much I enjoyed the Thanksgiving plate.

The food was delicious. I also appreciated the pretty card.

Thank you for all your thoughtfulness and kindness to me.

May God richly bless each of you

In Christ Love,

Jane McInnish

Thanks a million for the surprise package in September

at Walmart. We are ok and thanks for caring.

Neal & Ilene

On a personal note...Mark and I want to express our

thanks to everyone for your continued thoughts,

prayers, encouragement and the many ways that you

have expressed that during the past year!

You are all a blessing to us!

Ministry Opportunities

The Chemo Patient shoe box ministry will continue—in January, please bring snacks such as PB crackers or granola or cereal bars and place in designated box in Barnett hall. We will have a different item each month to help refill the boxes each month. You may also donate for this ministry and we will shop for you, please make notation on your check for chemo minis-try. Any questions, please contact Christi Dunn at 593-5899. Thank you.

Join the Sewing Ladies’ Baby Gown Ministry at 1:00 on Monday afternoons in Barnett Hall.

Meals for our shut ins. We would like to store some soups and small casseroles in our Barnett Hall kitchen in the freezer to use for some of our shut-ins and fam-ilies that are dealing with illnesses to help lighten their load. If you would put small containers (think 2-4 servings) in the freezer and let Christi Dunn know, we will make arrangements to get it delivered. Make sure to label what you have made and note the best way to warm or cook what you have made (time & temperature are great). If you would like to deliver to the shut-ins, please let Christi know. Thank you for all you do for our church family.

Our sandwich ministry for the chapter of AA is still ongoing. We only need about 5-6 sandwiches at this time on Mondays and Wednesdays. Deliver by 11:30 to Barnett Hall Kitchen and label food for AA. If you are able to help out with this ministry, please sign up at https://www.mealtrain.com/?id+mqetxi3rwv4t We could also use cases of water and individual chips to leave in the AA meeting room. If you have questions, please contact Christi Dunn.
