Come one, come all to our Fall kick off for Foundations for the Family!

In addition to a delicious dinner, our Children's Choirs will begin their first

rehearsal under the direction of the talented Lucille Harper! Lucille is joining

our staff as the Director of Children’s Choirs (part time) and is the recently

retired music teacher from Ebinport Elementary School. All children K-5th

Grade will meet in the Choir Room at 6:00 pm. Preschoolers will have music

with Amanda Ghent during this time as well. Following their rehearsal,

everyone will remain in Robinson Hall for the Spectacular Summer Summary

as our youth and adults will share their summer service experiences at

Appalachia, Camp Joy, Quest, Camp Bonclarken, and Mission Possible.

Beginning on Wednesday, September 10, all adults are invited to participate in

Henry Blackaby's Experiencing God study led by Barry and Philip. Through

Biblical and contemporary illustrations, participants will apply seven realities

of experiencing God. Our church will begin to better function as the Body of

Christ as we learn how to experience God. We will also be using the series

workbook in both the Fall and Spring semesters. Orders will be taken the first

two weeks of Foundations--the reduced cost of the book is $10 per person.

Consider serving this wonderful ministry by welcoming

our guest, preparing meals, setting up/breaking down

classrooms and staying overnight. Sign up on the white

board in the connector.

We’ve been blessed to be a blessing!

From the Session: The Session has always been grateful for the reverential attitude of all attendees at both of the Sunday worship services scheduled at our church. In keeping with this attitude of reverence, it is the expectation of the Session that there will be no food or drink in the sanctuary for the purpose of refreshment during worship. The Session appreciates your consideration and cooperation.

Thank you to Ashley Barron, Janie Cauthen and Wayne Wingate who served 320 sandwiches last week for the Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen. While the soup kitchen is being renovated, volunteers are needed to make and serve bag lunches from the Emmett Scott Center. Please contact the church office if you would like to volunteer with this wonderful ministry!

in the annual Kirkin’ of the Tartans. This special

You can pick a leaf or two, buy the requested supply, and then return it to the basket under the tree or the preschool director's office. We are very grateful for all the support and love that our church showers on us every year! Thank you for helping us!

Mark your calendar for a special Joint Worship service with

Mt. Prospect Baptist Church on Sunday, September 28 Sunday, September 28 Sunday, September 28 Sunday, September 28 at

On September 7, the Growing in Faith Class will begin the study, "Christianity Explored." This study will give us time to think about the big questions of life and explore the life of the person at the heart

of the Christian faith-Jesus Christ. The handbook includes discussion questions, outline notes on the talks, background information, and plenty of space to write your own thoughts.

All interested individuals are welcome to join us for this video based 7 week study held in the Faith Room as we explore 'One life. What's it all about?' together.

F irst ARP has been tremendously blessed this past year through the All American Athletes program (our sports

outreach to children with special needs). It has given us the opportunity to minister with and alongside families who have children with developmental delays as well as their siblings. Several special needs children attended VBS this summer and it is evident the Holy Spirit is working in their lives.

This Fall, we have implemented an inclusion based buddy system so that each child who has a developmental delay is partnered with a buddy and placed in already existing classrooms. Kate Brueck from Joni and Friends will return on Sunday, September 21 at 5:30 pm to offer further training to all teachers and volunteers. Everyone is welcome to attend this session.
