Ride-Rite™ Limited Lifetime Air Spring Warranty

FIRESTONE INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS UNVEILS NEW LIMITED LIFETIME AIR SPRING WARRANTY

The new Limited Lifetime Air Spring Warranty states the company’s Ride-Rite™ Air Helper Spring Assembly will perform according to the manufacturer’s specifications for as long as the vehicle on which the system was originally installed is owned by the original retail purchaser. This warranty supersedes Firestone’s previous product warranty to clarify the limited lifetime clause. “Since the 1950s, Firestone Industrial Products has been committed to delivering high-quality air helper springs to the marketplace,” said Mike Cerio, president, Firestone Industrial Products. “By combining the world’s No. 1 air spring with a new limited lifetime warranty, we can provide enhanced customer service to our valued partners and end users worldwide.” Firestone’s limited lifetime warranty covers manufacturing defects for as long as the original purchaser owns the vehicle on which it was originally installed. The fasteners and upper and lower brackets that accompany the air springs are warranted for a period of 24 months, beginning on the original retail delivery date. Ride-Rite air helper spring kits are available for most light trucks, sport utility vehicles and vans on the road today. Adding Ride-Rite air springs helps maximize the vehicle’s safe load carrying capacity, stability and ride quality; reduces suspension fatigue; and improves vehicle ride. Firestone’s Complete Suspension Solutions also include Airide™, Sport-Rite™, Coil-Rite™ and Level-Rite™ air springs. These products have become synonymous with quality, durability and outstanding customer support. For more information, visit www.ride-rite.com.

Ride-Rite™ Air Helper Springs

• DO NOT EXCEED THE VEHICLE’S RECOMMENDED GROSS VEHICLE WEIGHT RATING (GVWR)

Firestone’s heavy duty Ride-Rite air helper springs are the workhorse of our air helper spring line. The double convoluted air springs offer maximum load support as well as years of worry-free service.

Ride-Rite air helper springs can be installed on most light trucks, motorhomes, RV’s, SUV’s and vans. Ride-Rite air helper springs are installed between the frame of the vehicle and the suspension, providing load support through the use of air pressure.

Firestone has made a commitment to provide the customer with premium air helper spring kits. Ride-Rite air helper springs have become synonymous with quality, durability, and customer support. Each application is specifically designed to maximize the safe load carrying capacity, stability, and ride quality of the vehicle.

Ride-Rite air helper springs utilize a pair of convoluted air springs which can be adjusted for changing loads. These air springs are capable of 3,200 to 5,000 lbs.* of load leveling capacity. Ride-Rite air helper springs enhance the ride by reducing inter-leaf friction. Please remember that air springs do not increase the load-carrying capacity of your vehicle.

Ride-Rite kits are application specific and are designed for hasssle-free fitment to the OEM suspension. For lifted or low-ered applications, see page 23.

Ride-Rite™ Basic Kit

Everything is included for a quick, easy installation. Brackets, air springs, hardware, air line, and separate valves for manual inflation. Optional air accessories are available for all applications, see pages 24 & 25. Average installation time is approximately 1-2 hours.

Look for many no-drillkits which utilize the factory holes and canbe installed in half thetime or less. Most are designed to be fifth wheel and gooseneck hitch compatible.

Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs will:

Keep the vehicle level - improve steering control and braking effectiveness, level headlight beams and reduce tire wear.

Level off-center loads - individual inflation valves allow for adjustment side-to-side.

Reduce suspension fatigue - keep leaf springs from permanent sagging under repeated or constant load.

Reduce bottoming out - protective air cushion softens contact between the axle and frame.

Increase vehicle stability - absorbing road shock providing ideal ride conditions for passengers and load.

Sport-Rite™ Air Helper Springs

• DO NOT EXCEED THE VEHICLE’S RECOMMENDED GROSS VEHICLE WEIGHT RATING (GVWR)

Enjoy a smooth ride with Sport-Rite air helper springs. These revolutionary air springs were developed to maintain a level vehicle while offering the best possible ride characteristics under any load condition.

Maximize your vehicle’s suspension performance with Firestone air helper springs. Sport-Rite air helper springs utilize a tapered style air spring that will support up to 3000 lbs.* per set. With dynamic ride characteristics, hauling and towing control are vastly improved. Make your vehicle a total performer with Firestone Sport-Rite air helper springs.

Sport-Rite air helper springs can also be installed on most light trucks, SUV’s and vans. They are installed between the frame of the vehicle and the suspension, providing load support through the use of air pressure. Each application is specifically designed to maximize the safe load carrying capacity, stability, and ride quality of the vehicle.

Sport-Rite kits are application specific and are designed for hassle-free fitment to the OEM suspension. For lifted or lowered applications, see page 23.

Sport-Rite™ Basic Kit

Everything is included for a quick, easy installation. Brackets, air springs, hardware, air line, and separate valves for manual inflation. Optional air accessories are available for all applications, see page 24 & 25. Average installation time is approximately 1-2 hours.

Sport-Rite Air Helper Springs will:

Keep the vehicle level - improves steering control and braking effectiveness, levels headlight beams and reduces tire wear.

Level off-center loads - individual inflation valves allow for adjustment side-to-side.

Reduce suspension fatigue - keeps leaf springs from sagging under repeated or constant load.

Improve the ride - allows the air springs to be matched to the load.

Reduce bottoming out - protective air cushion softens contact between the axle and frame.

Increase vehicle stability - absorbs road shock providing ideal ride conditions for passengers and load.

Coil-Rite™ Air Helper Springs

• DO NOT EXCEED THE VEHICLE’S RECOMMENDED GROSS VEHICLE WEIGHT RATING (GVWR)

Discover the difference Coil-Rite air helper springs can make in improving the ride, handling and braking of your vehicle.

Coil-Rite air helper springs provide extra support for coil springs in cars, minivans, vans, light trucks, RV’s and SUV’s. The adjustable Coil-Rite air helper springs will level your vehicle, provide a smoother ride, and assist with more effective braking and handling, even under heavy loading and adverse road conditions.

Coil-Rite air helper springs are designed to fit inside existing coil spring suspensions, creating a variable rate spring. These air helper springs are made of durable, elastic polyurethane, providing years of comfort and stability to your vehicle.

Firestone’s Coil-Rite air helper springs enable adjustment for varying loads and road conditions by controlling the air pressure in the air helper springs. Spring performance can be altered as easily as inflating a tire. The air springs will support 500-1000 lbs.* per set.

Coil-Rite™ Basic Kit

Everything is included for a quick, easy installation. Air springs, hardware, air line, and separate valves for manual inflation. Optional air accessories are available for all applications, see pages 24 & 25. Average installation time is approximately 1 hour.

Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs will:

•Increase vehicle stability • Improve steering and balance

•Improve braking effectiveness • Prevent “bottoming out”

•Maintain a level vehicle • Keep headlights aimed on the road

•Reduce tire wear

Level-Rite™ Air Spring + Damper

Certain factory suspension configurations do not allow the fitment of a stand-alone air spring. In these instances, it is necessary to pair the air spring with the shock absorber to achieve meaningful load capability while maintaining a hassle-free installation. For these applications, Firestone has designed a fully-protected, reversible sleeve air spring and paired it with a high-performance Bilstein monotube shock absorber for perfectly matched performance characteristics over the entire operation spectrum.

Firestone’s new Level-Rite product provides the perfect leveling solution for the front end of late model Dodge, Chevrolet and GMC trucks and SUV’s that see use in snow-plowing, off-roading, slide-in campers, or have large, heavy grille guards.

Level-Rite™ Basic Kit

• Fully shielded, reversible sleeve air spring featuring billet aluminum piston and restraining cylinder• High-performance Bilstein mono tube shock absorbers• Polyurethane bushings• All installation hardware• Detailed instructions

Level-Rite Air Spring + Damper will:

Level the front end in variable load applications - snowplow, slide-in camper, heavy grille guardAllow control of front ground clearance - off-roadingImprove vehicle control and stability - maintain constant tire, driveline and headlight alignmentReduce bottoming out - protective air cushion softens contact between the frame and suspensionReduce suspension fatigue - prevent factory torsion bars from sagging under repeated or constant load

Optional air accessories are available for all applications, see pages 24 & 25. Average installation time is less than one hour.

Air-Rite™ Air Accessories

Air-Rite Kit Selection Procedure:

1. Standard Duty Compressor The standard duty compressor offers dependable lasting service and is ideal for moderate usage of the air helper springs. For example, for weekend towing or RVing, the standard duty system is a great choice.

2. Heavy Duty Compressor The heavy duty compressor is primarily used when a customer requires the air springs to be adjusted more than a few times a week. Ideal for heavy-duty towing construction vehicles, full time RV’ers, utility applications and much more.

Firestone Air Accessories Provide:

1. Single Control Single gauge control ties the two air springs together providing equal inflation of both air helper springs. Ideal for towing or hauling centered loads.

2. Dual Control Dual control gauges inflate each air spring independently to provide side to side leveling for unbalanced loads or floor plans. This is a great problem solver for motorhomes class “A”, “B” and “C”, pickup campers and utility vans (for optimum anti-roll stability). 3. Automatic Control Automatic control of your air helper springs allows the installer to set the appropriate ride height and the vehicle will always maintain that ride position.

Air-Rite Basic Kit

Everything is included to connect directly to your air helper springs- compressor, gauge, air line, fittings & fasteners.

Keeping your vehicle level and handling correctly is simple with Firestone’s air accessory systems.

Firestone air accessory systems offer finger tip control of your air helper springs. These systems are designed to work with any Ride-Rite, Sport-Rite, Coil-Rite or Level-Rite air helper spring kit. By adding a Firestone air accessory system the air helper springs can be adjusted at any time without having to look for an air source. It’s easy to maintain the ride you want regardless of the load or road conditions.

Why use a Firestone air accessory system?

• Instant adjustability of your air helper springs

• Increased life of the air helper springs

• Continuous monitoring of the suspension

• Convenience

Air Pressure Requirements

Please note that air pressure will vary depending upon several factors such as load, road conditions, temperature and personal preference. Feel free to experiment with different air pressures to find the best ride for you and your vehicle. Air pressure in Coil-Rite™ kits is dependent upon vehicle application. By maintaining proper air pressure, your air helper springs will last longer and provide the best possible assistance to your vehicle. See manual for specific pressure requirements or call (1-800-888-0650 ext. 58643) to speak to a Ride-Rite representative. Installation instruction manuals available on the web.

Lift spacers can be used with most Ride-Rite™ air helper spring kits - NOT Coil-Rite™ or Sport-Rite™. In order to ensure proper spacer usage, determine the distance between the upper and lower brackets of your air helper spring kit, and whether the kit mounts on the leaf spring or the axle. The spacer needs to be the same length as the amount of lift applied to the axle on which the air helper spring is being installed. Axle Mount: Lower bracket attaches to the axle Leaf Mount: Lower bracket attaches to the leaf stack

Air Springs

Firestone continues to raise the bar on high pressure and high quality air springs with our RED LABEL edition. This design is the result of over two years of strenuous testing to exceed the demands of those who require higher pressures to support and raise their vehicles. The air spring utilizes a proprietary high strength cord with excellent flexibility and durability while operating up to 150 PSI and having a test pressure of 400 PSI. Available in both our popular 267C 1.5 and 224 sizes and in 3/8 and 1/2 NPT port sizes. The Red Label parts are not intended to supplement the standard air springs in the Ride-Rite kits. The Red Label parts are intended for use on custom applications only.

Tech Talk - Technical Tips and Q & A

Technical Tips

Air Spring AlignmentAir spring alignment is important to the operation of your air helper spring kit. Upon installation, visually align the air spring. Most kits allow for adjustment of the upper and lower brackets to assist in making the air springs vertical. In most instances, position the upper and lower brackets so that they are parallel. Remember to maintain proper design height. Refer to the installation manual for kit-specific procedures.

Push-to-Connect FittingsFirestone’s push-to-connect air fittings are extremely easy to use. Once the length of the air line has been selected to span the distance from the air springs to the inflation valves, simply use a sharp knife or tubing cutter (9009) to cut the air line as square as possible (Do NOT use side cutters or other devices that may smash the end of the air line). Then push the air line into the fitting as far as possible.

Air Spring ClearanceAfter installing your air helper spring kit, make sure you have at least 1/2” of clearance around the entire air spring when inflated. A good rule of thumb is to use the thickness of your hand and feel around the entire air spring. If your hand comes in contact with anything on the vehicle, you may have an interference issue. If the object can be moved, relocate it. If the object cannot be moved, contact Firestone for further assistance.

Air Accessory SystemsFirestone offers a wide range of air accessory systems for all your air helper spring requirements. Some quick tips that apply to all Firestone air accessories:

1.) All compressors are direct drive units (NO oil or belts). This means the compressor can be mounted in any position without detriment to the compressor.

2.) In systems using tanks, when connecting the compressor to a positive wire on the vehicle, make sure the wire is ignition activated. This will eliminate the possibility of the compressor running while the vehicle is turned off, draining your battery.

3.) The compressor can be mounted under the hood or on the frame rail behind a cross member. In order to allow enough air flow to the compressor, place the unit in a well protected area free from debris and large amounts of water.

Frequently Asked Questions & Answers

Question: How much air pressure should be in the air helper springs?Answer: Air pressure requirements vary based upon application and personal preference.

Question: Do the air helper springs improve the ride?Answer: When the vehicle is loaded, the air helper springs help the existing suspension carry the load and improve the ride a great deal. With the minimum pressure in an unloaded vehicle, there will be no change to the ride.

Question: Do the air helper springs replace the existing suspension?Answer: The air helper springs are attached to the existing suspension. NOTHING IS REMOVED OR ALTERED.

Question: Do the air helper springs increase the payload capacity of my vehicle?Answer: The air helper springs do not alter a vehicle’s gross vehicle weight rating. Never exceed the manufacturer’s GVWR.

Question: Will the air helper springs stabilize my vehicle?Answer: Yes, air pressure adjustment will allow you to provide the exact amount of spring support to match the load, providing a level & stable vehicle.

Question: Should there be air pressure in the air helper springs while the vehicle is empty?Answer: There should always be air pressure in the air helper springs.

Question: What is included in a basic kit?Answer: Everything is included for a quick, easy installation. Brackets, air springs, hardware, air line, and inflation valves for manual inflation are all included. Optional air accessories are available for all applications, see pages 24 & 25.

Question: Can there be different air pressures in each air spring?Answer: Yes, you can have different air pressures in each air helper spring. Ride-Rite™, Sport-Rite™, and Coil-Rite™ kits come with two inflation valves for individual inflation.

These are the most frequently asked questions. For additional information, please consult the installation instructions, operator’s guide, or contact Firestone directly at 1-800-888-0650 (ext. 58643)
