LEED® was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
LEED ® is a third-party certification program and the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings.
Founded in 1993 and is a nonprofit membership organization whose vision is a sustainable built environment within a generation.
LEED ® provides a system that synergizes various elements of building design and operation.
LEED ® promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by which is based on the total number of points earned in seven categories:
1. Sustainable site development
2. Water savings
3. Energy efficiency
4. Materials selection
5. Indoor environmental quality
6. Innovation and Design
7. Regional Priority
